Proposed Lines

Created by: Alankrz
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 18, 2020
Published: Oct. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Key decisions based on talking points in the media:
Seabrook will play!
Ian Mitchell has 0 NHL games so no assumptions are made about his potential.
Shaw will play based on social media reports.
Zack Smith still on LTIR with back injury. GWS.
Toews-Kane consistently on the top line together.
Strome to the wing, but stays in the top six. He gets a bridge deal so he can be included in these lines.
Keith paired with a veteran. No more babysitting duty that goes back to Keith-Gustav Forsling.
Alex Nylander buried! he's off the team after 10 games. Worst trade since Stan went crazy at the 2016 deadline and gave MTL their #1 C.
No trades or acquisitions to keep this simple and free of crazy assumptions. It is very realistic Strome resigns, and if Strome's agent and the Hawks are smart a deal wont get done until the season start LTIR situation is more clear.

I like loading up the top 6, hopefully Strome can play the wing. Cuz Wallmark and Janmark can be good 3rd liners. Owen Power here they come, unless they can get a goalie

Your almost better off putting Dach on the wing, strome can’t play wing.

Possible with the goaltending direction. Good thing Hawks still own their 2021 1st round pick. Why 30th place instead of dead last 31st? What team gets the honor of dead last?

That will work. Good idea. Love the feedback. I thought about putting Dach on the top powerplay instead of Kubalik or DeBrincat. Thoughts?

Mitchell and Suter make the team and where is Nylander? He at least deserves a spot in there.

As bad as this team looks, they still aren't worse than Detroit

I hope so. As Q used to say "we'll see". Nicolas Beaudin and Wyatt Kalynuk have a shot at cracking the lineup too, which points to a huge logjam of defensemen.

Read the description about Nylander. He is left out deliberately. But what are your thoughts on Caggiula being left out?

oof my bad. I like caggs a lot but id put him in over maybe highmore but our offense is pretty solid assuming shaw/suter/strome are all back.

So, full disclosure, I’m not a fan of Dach being a center full time in the future. I’d really like him to play wing in the future because I think he can turn into another mark stone on the wing.

That being said as for the top PP line, I’m okay with that idea so long as two things happen. 1) Dach spends some of this offseason working on his hand eye coordination, which leads into 2) if Dach is on the top PP, under no circumstances does he leave the front of the net save for chasing a loose puck.

I like that comparison, but in the grand scheme of things Dach is a perfect 1C for the future of this team. I think it's important that he plays down the middle. I'm not opposed to him playing some games on the wing, it's all subjective to opponents and line matching. I'm still thinking Strome might get moved, there's too many forwards on this team.

I don’t see anyway strome fits on the team anymore. I know that’s pretty crazy to say given the offseason so far, but I agree with you there.

I agree, I don't see Dach playing wing given his 200 foot ability and his size and strength. Strome isn't very good on the third line. There's a few teams with no cap space, and with Smith on LTIR, the hawks have about $8M in space. I could see Stan try to bring in a Cirelli or Sergachev for Strome, but there's a lot of moving pieces involved in that scenario.

Definitely would either of those guys, but it’s definitely sergachev that we’d need more. I really can’t believe there haven’t been offer sheets yet for those two.

I really can't believe how stagnant some of the GM's with cap space have been. Tampa Bay, Edmonton, and Arizona are all looking to potentially shed some cap. It amazes me how Josh Anderson got a huge extension, but so many guys are on the block due to cap restrictions.
