Jets fans will say it’s not enough for laine.

From a canes perspective pesce would need to be replaced with a better defenseman than forsling. They would likely need to pick up a second line center. I would say they would need to move at least dzingle and Gardiner for cap space. Then sign granlund as the 2c and do something to get a 2 rd

Pretty underwhelming for Laine, can't see the Jets doing this.

Pesce is a nice start, but Trochek would need to be replaced with something better that actually fills a need for the Jets.

This is one of the better packages that is being offered. However, I think the Jets would still say no. They have Stastny for 2C now. Plus we have Pionk and Demelo on the right side (who Pesce is better than) but just Morrisey on the left. Heinola and Samberg can be long term options, so I think we are fine with letting it ride with the Defense we have.

Trochek does nothing for us anymore with acquiring Stastney for this year and hoping for Perfetti the following so this offer is really Pesce + 3rd for Laine where Pesce is a fine second pair Dman on a great contract, but not really a #1. Now that we have DeMelo locked up + Pionk, we aren't really looking to just add another middle pair guy that would force us to lose Pionk in the expansion draft.

Essentially bringing in Pesce means that we need to move Pionk out so we're better off just keeping Laine. The time for this deal to have had a chance has passed. We're looking for something else now.
