Don't think Detroit does that. Bertuzzi brings more energy and physicality while producing as much as Drouin. They don't add a 2nd thats for sure. He's their Gallagher

Bertuzzi has already had his arbitration hearing. They can't negotiate anymore. He will get a one-year contract between $3.15M (team ask) and $4.25M (player ask). His hearing was yesterday and the arbiter has 48 hours to return his decision.

This is a decline, yzerman is not taking back selfish drouin and wings aren't trading bertuzzi as well as any picks during this rebuild. Montreal will be giving up major young pieces or you will not be getting bertuzzi

Why would Yzerman want Drouin back? And got news for you Bertuzzi wanted $4.25 mil for 1 year so 6 years would easily cost you $5.5 mil per or $6.0 mil per not $4.5 mil per.

1. Yzerman and Droiun have a history and it is not a good one.
2. Bertuzzi is a grinder who scores and can play top, minutes and os not as gifted as Droiun, but his hustle and workman attitude out pace Drouin.
3. Why would Wings have to add a 2nd? Drouin in no where near a 1st by himself.
4. I think this arbitration deal is to get a 2nd buyout to buy out Nielsson.
5. Because he has already gone thru arbitration it is a one year deal. You will need to wait until Jan 1st or some other date the NHL uses due to the late start of the season.

Drouin's best 2 seasons are 53 points, Bertuzzi has one 47 point season and another 48 point season with 11 games left. So the difference between Bertuzzi and Drouin isn't a 2nd round pick and both are 25 years old.

The team still has the option of walking away and Burtuzzi can become a FA. Not that that will happen or anything, I was just saying it is an option. BTW he either gets the team ask or the player ask they don't calculate a contract between the two from my understanding.

No they can't. Teams aren't allowed to walk away from awards lower than $4,538,958 this season. Bertuzzi's max deal will be $4.25M. Whatever they award, he's on the books for the year.

Not true. The arbiter can award any amount between the two amounts based on a number of factors.

Capfriendly has a good write-up on the arbitration rules here:

Thanks for the link that was a good read. I had read something previously that said the arbitrator either sided with the team or the player and awarded either a 1 or 2 year contract based on the AAV.

I forgot about them changing the rules for clubs being allowed to walk away from player elected arbitration.
