Value is definitely way off. No chance sens are so desperate to push to compete right now that they send their future away for a guy whos career is half over. They'd blow their load to try and compete for 8th place over the next 2 seasons to then have to start rebuilding all over and likely have to trade LDrai just to recoup more assets. Hes gonna be a lifer in EDM. at least wont see him move until the last year or 2 of his deal.

Draisaitl’s career is definitely not half over, but at 25, his prime is nearly over, and his quality years are half over.

I like Draisaitl, he’s a special player, but I’m not trading away 6+ years between him and Stuetzle especially when Stuetzle fits Ottawa’s compete timeline and Draisaitl doesn’t. I’m also not including Tkachuk, Thomson, and two good picks, but...

If I were to make an offer for Draisaitl, because I thought Ottawa was really close, I’d only include one of Stuetzle or Tkachuk, a prospect like Thomson, and the first round pick. I’m not making a Lindros offer. If the offer is turned down, that’s fine.

Well holland has a brain so he won't trade a franchise player that could bring us the cup. Unlike chiarelli who traded three of the guys that you mentioned.

At the risk of starting an argument I would just to let you know that list I made doesn’t end there it goes on and on And goes back through multiple gms all I’m saying is you say never but I could put money on him or mcdavid being trade within three seasons especially if they don’t win another cup because it’s not a gm issue it’s a league wide issue if player can’t win with a team or grow intolerant of decisions a team makes even they desire to leave sometimes messier being a major example of that
So I would stick to what I originally said never say never because that facts just don’t support your argument

None of these players compare to Stuetzle or Tkachuk, even though Stuetzle was drafted with one of the picks, he wasn't in the trade. The pick wasn't supposed to be that high, or expected to win a lottery position.

Yes, but Hall was a pending FA, so was Karlsson, and Stone was close. Drai's contract is set up for the next couple years. That adds a lot of value

Karlsson was traded September 13th, with one year left on his contract. Calling Karlsson a pending FA is misleading since it was an off season trade with a year left on his contract. Granted, 1 year is a lot less than 5 years remaining. This is why I included one of Stuetzle or Tkachuk. If Draisaitl didn’t have those contract years remaining, he’s not getting either of those players, just like Karlsson didn’t.
