Those contracts with that retention would take about 18 mil cap space for Detroit. You've manage to float quite a bit more cap their way than they have available.

No thanks we weaken our rightside by dealing Hronek, Too much long term debt here as well Alex Killorn still has 3 years left $4,450,000 Tyler Johnson 4 years left $5,000,000 and lets say Mikhail Sergachev 5 years $5,500,000 That's nearly $15 million right there for all 3 players plus we eat $1,500,000 on Valterri Filppula and eat Ern's cap as well even with Zetterberg on LTIR i'm not sure this works cap wise for us. Doubt ownership the Ilitches would even allow us to spend right up to the cap during a rebuild. Detroit's just taking on far too much salary here.

Yeah well Tampa might not have a choice, They're in real danger of possibly losing 2 of Cernak, Cirelli and Sergachev if Julien BriseBois can't move players like Gourde, Johnson and Palat. it's not like he can just move let's say Killorn and Johnson and be able to afford to resign all 3 RFAs still need to move one of Gourde or Palat plus move Coburn and Paquette as well.

JBB haven’t moved any player yet because he over values killorn, palat and gourde. He wants 1rst for them which he won’t get but he will get 2nds or 3rds for them when he finally settles

Yeah well Julien BriseBois is totally delusional if he thinks he's going to get 1st round picks for Alex Killorn, Yanni Gourde and Ondrej Palat. Palat is the only one that might get a late 1st round pick. Killorn at best is worth a 3rd round pick. And Yanni Gourde's contract is a killer with 5 years left at $5,166,666 his contract BriseBois would need to add a 1st round pick to move him. Doubt very many teams would take on Gourde's contract especially in a flat cap world. BriseBois needs to get his act together here shortly sounding like training camp could be opening up here in no more then one month. So he doesn't have much more time to get deals done here.

Just looking at the numbers and not the value or sensibility

Filppula $3MM
Erne $997.5K
Hronek $714.186K

$4,711,686 out for Detroit
$9,538,611 current cap space for Detroit

Johnson $5MM
Killorn $4.45MM
Sergachev $$

Take the Detroit cap space, add the out going contracts, and they have $14,250,297 in available cap space. Deduct the incoming contracts of Johnson and Killorn, and the remaining cap is $4,800,297, and then there's the possibly LTIR from Zetterberg of $6,083,333, and the Detroit has a possible $10,883,630 to sign Sergachev.

I wouldn't do the deal because the term is just too long, and that's a pretty high cap rebuild team, and all that cap is for just two players. Sergachev is a good player, but the 1st will not be a high first. Johnson and Killorn wont be worth as much when their contracts become easier to trade.

Just my 2 cents

Edit for bad spelling, lol

Forgot the 2 mil retention, leaving them 2.8 mil to sign Sergachev. The Zetterberg LTIR Im skeptical of just because it hasnt been done already so insurance would cover some of his contracts cost. It looks like the NHL already told Detroit no after investigating shortly after he was placed on LTIR in 2018 so Im going on that assumption.

No motivation for Killorn to have Detroit on his M NTC list....and maybe even NTC Johnson would agree to be traded.

Yes I didn't see the retained money, didn't have my glasses on, sorry, and thx. So $2.8MM and not $4.8MM, and the possible LTIR.

I don't know enough about the Zetterberg injury history, and NHL involvement, to comment, but I do wonder why Zetterberg can be placed on IR and not transferred to LTIR. It might have to do with who pays the actual salary. On LTIR I know that the team only pays 20% and insurance pays the remaining 80%. I would assume it's the same for IR though, or teams would be very quick to switch players on IR to LTIR so save salary expense.

As for the league not allowing a player to be switched from IR to LTIR, it would be like the NHL saying, sure you can commit fraud against the insurance companies by placing a player on IR, but don't try to circumvent the cap by moving the player to LTIR, but of course that depends on who pays the players salary on IR.

Thx again

So a 50-60 point 27 yo guy who’s making 5 mil a year for 5 more years has negative value? You’re delusional, also killorn gets a 2nd easy dudes a 40 point guy

Who are you talking about? Gourde isn’t 27 he’s about to be 29 and I wouldn’t label him a 50-60 pt guy either especially considering he’s regressed the past two years.

Schmidt just went for a third and Toews went for 2x seconds and they play a more important position.

Toews and Schmidt are definitely worth more as they are 3D at minimum. While Gourde has been trending downward for 2 years and would be labeled a mid 6 forward and those don’t have the same value. Toews was labeled as either a 1D or 2D on NYI and Schmidt was behind Theodore on VGK. This really isn’t a hot take on my part either as if you were to have a poll I’d wager 90% + agree with me.

Zetterberg LTIR will do it easily.

Still a very smart plan, Filppula and Erne know the old system and are depth bargains. Hronek will add a Right handness at D.

Those are good examples about the values at the moment in cap hell.

You are not gonna get anywhere near fair price for any Tampa guy, for sure.

Lol gourde is a middle 6 on the best team in the league, he’s a top 6 on any other team, and Schmidt is not a top3 dman, he’s top 4 at best

That’s weird because Schmidt isn’t played like he’s a “top 4 at best” and VGK routinely goes deep into the playoffs. I’d love to hear your rationale on that statement.

Gourde on the other hand which has been pointed out multiple times has regressed for multiple years now. No one is arguing he’s trash but rather he got paid and now his production has regressed making him a “cap casualty/dump”. He may play on the second line for some dumpster fire teams but that doesn’t make him a top 6 guy no matter how you slice it nor does it increase his value.

18-19: 48 pts

Gourde was put on the 3rd line in tampa this year due too cirelli breaking out if gourde plays top 6 minutes he puts up 50+ points and you can’t say gourde has regressed if he’s only played three seasons, gourde had a phenomenal rookie year than came back down to earth the next year and this year he played on the third and 4th line which hurt his production and Schmidt had been the 4th dman every year for the entire time he played on vegas

What are you talking about to come with that conclusion? This starting to become just trolling now...

Schmidt’s average ice time
17-18: 1st (22 mins 14 seconds)
18-19: 1st (21 mins 57 seconds)
19-20: 2nd (21 mins 41 seconds)

Gourde’s production pts/game is a regression unless you change the definition of the word.
