The thing is I’m pretty sure Wilson’s choice was Karlsson over players like Pavelski and Marleau so if anything you’d get Pavelski back

You'd also still have your 2020 1st round pick which turned into Stuetzle... no take backsies.

As much as I love King Karl... the trade, at the time, made a lot of sense. The entire city of Ottawa thought we got fleeced. Then SJS, got old and hurt and everything fell apart for them. Jones and Dell couldn't stop a beach volleyball. Players checked out...

No his post was about not resigning EK65, we use him for the “cup” run we went for, lose in the WCF and don’t keep him.

As he said^

The roster wouldn’t include Toffoli and dadonov.

It’d be

Kane Hertl pavs
Meier couture Labanc
Donato Handemark Nieto/ UFA (idk the space we’d have with Pavs instead of the other two)
(if were keeping this OF moves of Donato dub Nieto etc)
Marleau Kellman Noesen/Sorensen

Simek Burns
Ferraro Shatty
Vlasic Braun

Dub
Jones

I agree but my hope is that Karlsson was the problem as Jones was good.... until Karlsson came aboard.
Plus I think Dubnyk rebounds and plays well and well
We’re stuck with jones unless Seattle picks him... Lmao no were stuck with him.

Your probably right however this was more a “what if” kinda deal and I was just looking at guys I wanted from this offseason
Tbh pavalski is 35/36 and giving him 3 years would have been dumb so I’m sad to see him go but glad he’s not resigned.

I agree I was stoked at the time of the trade as I saw Karlsson as the only player I thought was better than Burns. But it didn’t age well and I would have preferred to let him walk rather than sign him to that stupid deal.

I know this was more a what if kinda deal like what if he didn’t resign or what if he left this year what could we have done with the money. Total fantasy kinda deal.

I'm really hoping for a return to form for him. Karlsson, not 2 years ago, was in the same conversation as people like Crosby and McDavid. He was a game changer every time he had the puck. He just lost all of his jump with the ankle injury and then groin injury last year. Not to mention the Achilles tendon issue...

It's amazing he even has a leg left...

Whatever look at Alex smith he looks pretty good and he almost got his leg removed it was so bad. Karlsson has had over a year since he last played a game. He should be 100% by the time the puck drops
