Probably not but you really never know.

So many things have to align to win the Stanley Cup. It is way too hard to predict.

Are they a contender? Not quite IMO.

They are a very skilled team who is just outside the top tier of elite NHL teams from where I'm sitting.

Anything can happen. That is why they play the games.

If everything aligned just right, they have as good a chance as anybody. I just don't see it as probable.

I'd love to be proven wrong.

They’re a bubble team that was desperate for the cap to go up...and now we’re in a flat cap era for the foreseeable future. I can’t see why anyone would think they’re going to win a darn thing, especially with so many better teams in the east.

Really hoping they win in the next few years. Mostly because I am a fan of them, less so because it'll shut up an oceans worth on armchair experts on here.

Nope. Dubas, himself, would have known when he signed the big contracts that the team couldn't win unless the cap went up dramatically. It won't. They won't.

Yes, no one knew that their would be worldwide pandemic and I have never blamed Dubas for that.

However, the NHLPA was already screaming about escrow and holding back the cap from rising as much as anticipated before any of the big contracts were signed, and Dubas has not adjusted to the new reality.

I believe they are on the cusp of contention.

Hands down, best top six in the NHL, and even better if Nick Robertson is what the toronto media say he is.

and bottom six is where they can improve. if they can pick up some bottom six help at the TDL, i think theyre poised for a run.
