Raymond and Seider can't play next season until the Swedish Hockey League is finished, Both are contracturally obligated to their respective clubs.

How would you rate Grave’s value compared to Toews?

Considering he went for 2x late second round picks and Toews > Graves, I think this would be in the ballpark if Sakic was trying to free up cap space/plan for ED.

I realise you asked Coga but yeah I'd guess it's maybe about right although Toews was probably cheap at 2x late seconds as NYI were in something of a bind.

Wouldn’t the same apply to Sakic for the expansion draft? Obviously the timing would be the critical part but that Toews deal could’ve gone to anyone so if I’m Yzerman I don’t touch Graves unless he’s cheaper than Toews.

As a Detroit fan, I think Yzerman should go after Graves...especially if a 2nd and 3rd would get it done, though that would likely be after this season but before the expansion draft.

Quite possibly, like you say timing would be of the essence, though one assumes he has to be resigned to the possibility of losing one of his D unless he can work out some kind of other deal with Seattle. All depends how he decides to play it I guess, and of course also depends on the performance of both guys this year. Lot of variables,
