Top 10 Sharks Prospects Ranked

Created by: yikes
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 10, 2020
Published: Dec. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Quality potential is just meaning the quality of output they could hold.
Merkley at 10/10 means he had the potential to be a high class player, and perform big time. Chmelevski at a 6/10 means he has the potential to be an impactful player but nothing special, he’ll be useful. Pasichnuk at a 5/10 means he’ll be an average player.

6-7 out of 10 means a good useful player who’s impactful. 5 means kinda just average. 8-10 means the player could become a big time name for the team.

My personal gripe with the team is Chmelevski. He could be better than I’ve rated him but he hasn’t performed in the AHL to make me hold the same faith in him as I hoped

I personally would drop down Melnichuk, Kniazev and Pasichnuk at least 1 each just because I’m not really sold on their ceilings. But other than that this is pretty solid! Hard to get a grip on this years prospects until later on but they’re looking good so far.

I would probably bump him up personally I agree he didn’t perform as best as he could last year, but he had an early injury which lingered and cost him. Toward the end of the season he was really, really good.

Yeah I threw alexei quite high but he’s our best goalie bet so I felt he’s important to us. And I do think Chmelevski could make the roster this year so I’m not worrried about him. He’s still got a ton of potential I just hope this years better for him.

Yeah I suppose relative to the Sharks organization, Alexei is more like a 10 considering our goalie prospect pool lol. That’s for sure. Definitely hope Sasha has a better year too.

And he got player of the month in the KHL which I would grade a small step up from AHL talent wise. He’s looking like the guy we all got excited for 16 months ago.

I agree cause the potential is absolutely there 100%. The AHL is a tough league for goalies too but I think the KHL is pretty similar like you said. I’m excited to see what he can do but I just still have reservations. Goalies are just a weird and unpredictable breed and though he has done solid in the KHL this season, he’s also been a bit inconsistent. He’s still very young though.

I just think with so many variables and unknowns along with the fact that he probably shouldn’t see NHL ice for another 2-3 seasons, I would rate him lower personally.

Sharks had a great draft this year, which they REALLY needed. Their prospect pool is still extremely shallow overall, but at least they’re potentially better than Pittsburgh, Boston, and Tampa in that regard now. That’s what you get when you’re competitive for a long time and make a habit of dealing picks though, just gotta eat it for a couple years and rebuild properly (I personally don’t think their goalies, D outside EK65/Burns, or bottom six are strong enough for a retool and they only have the cap room for like one third line winger or 4/5 D).

Look how he performed after he said his foot injury was over, much better

Pasichnuk probably shouldn't be on this. I would put Spiridonov in over him. Also I love Leonard, but he needs to be under Bordeleau. Also Robbins could be here

I really don't know how to rate Gushchin as well.

Bordeleau is the best prospect the Sharks have.
