thats just terrible team management.... vegas: "we dont want pacioretty anymore, makes too much money." Bruins: "heres a young cost controlled top 6 left winger and our top defensive prospect!" highly unlikely from a bruins perspective but hey crazier things have happened.

How is this a bad deal for Boston? Patches is miles better than DeBrusk and Boston is going for it while they have Bergeron / Marchand / Krecji before they start to decline.

how is this a good deal for boston? sacrificing what 10+ years of a player for literally 1 shot at a cup in a 56 game year in a stacked division? krejci is gone next year. marchand still has a lot of game left in him. bergeron not so much. but im not about to trade one of my best young players for a contract another team doesnt want.

Patches has 3 years left on his deal, and I don’t buy that VGK is trying to move him. The hockey world is just desperate for some rumours right now. Adding patches would give them a major boost up front for the next couple of seasons. You say Marchand has a lot of game left but patches somehow doesn’t even though he’s younger? Not to mention Marchand has played a far more physical game than patches with a lot more miles on his body.

Miles better is a reach and Pacioretty had a RW unlike DeBrusk.

patches has more hits and blocked shots than marchand does in less games. marchand has played 60 more playoff games and 10 less regular season games than patches. patches also has 143 points in the last 3 years, marchand has 272. marchand is what 5-6 months older? lol so much "younger" patches has a good shot. but he plays with a full line of solid scorers. debrusk has krejci over the last 3 years. their 2 rw situation has been horrid. pretty easy to shut a player down when only 1 of them on the line wants to score.

Patches is a top 20 winger in this league. DeBrusk isn’t even a top 40.

I’m not debating patches vs Marchand. Obviously Marchand is better. But he’s played a much more aggressive, physical presence game than patches and has taken a lot more abuse.

Patches is no doubt superior to DeBrusk in every way. I’m not even gonna debate that because it’s not worth my time. Patches scored 39 goals for fun on MTL when his 1C was David deharnais in only 73 games. Don’t even go though. I get patches is older now but he really hasn’t declined much since his MTL days.

again, selling our best d prospect and a young twf that finally got a decent rw on his line isnt good team management. you bring patches in at 7m. both rask and krejci are ufas. what happens when neither comes back? now you have no d prospects really, no youth for wingers, no real goalie option outside of halak until swayman comes up. like you wanna go all in for one year. that year should have been 2019. not this short year in a loaded division. They need a top 4 LD right now. If they think vaak or zboril can fill that role than fine. but trading both vaak and debrusk would be terrible beyond this year for the bruins.

i never said patches wasnt a better player. its just not good for future bruins roster management. If rask and krejci both come back for a couple more years then sure go for it. but with the uncertainty behind not just krejci but rask... no, keep the younger players.

Debrusk for pacioretty straight up is a horrible concept for boston.
