I don't really see Sandin and Liljegren on the taxi squad. Unless there is no AHL season. A game here or there won't be great for their development.

I see Rosen and Marincin on the taxi squad (possibly Warsfosky). Sandin can still jump to the front of the line if there is a dman that suffers a lengthy injury.

I'm pretty sure that Dell will get claimed, because doesn't the taxi squad have to go through waivers?

And I believe you can fit Boyd and Liljegren in the roster

It certainly appears that way. Not sure how the initial taxi squad will be formed and whether or not they will be able to avoid putting dell on waivers.

The one thing to keep n mind is that all 31 teams will probably need to put a goalie through waivers. Even if dell is picked up on waivers there will be 32 goalies put through as the team acquiring him will need to send another goalie through waivers. I’m sure there are a few waiver exempt goalies but I can’t see there being many.

The only other option would be to use dell as the healthy scratch and swap exempt players in and out. It would really handcuff the team and I don’t think it is worth it.

A team would likely have to quarantine him for at least a week (after he arrives) while keeping him on the roster, so they'd have to carry 3 goalies to start the season. If a US team claims him, may take some time crossing the border.

I really don't see waivers operating the same way this year. IMO there will be way less claims this year (until some injuries crop up).

What the alternative though? Either you can't play Robertson or Lehtonen, or you have to send one of Dermott, Bogosian, Vesey, or Spezza through waiver, and they are sure to be claimed. You don't need 3 goalies anyway.

8th on the depth chart though. If they stay relatively healthy, how many games would he play? Lehtonen is coming here to play. Dermott shouldn't be in the press box. Bogosian signed here to play.

For Sandin to play, Lehtonen is demoted and one of Holl, Dermott or Bogosian are in the press box.

I just don't see that happening very often, especially considering the cap squeeze, and the fact that the forwards will likely be getting shuffled fairly regularly (Spezza getting a night off, Barabanov or Boyd getting some games, etc.). It's a short season, I would think they would want to find some steady continuity on the backend as soon as possible. Doubt they want to worry about finding enough games for 8 healthy dmen. It'll be enough of a headache to rotate 7.

To me it makes more sense for Sandin to play regularly (pretty important development year), and fill in if a Leafs Dman suffers a long term injury.

I just dont see Robertson making the team over Barabanov, boyd, anderson and so on. He will probs go back and play in the OHL. So Anderson can be on the taxi squad and Barabanov will probs be on the 4th line in robertsons place

That's a good point, you are probably right. Just thinking because they played hium last season, they probably don't want to send him down, as some might see it as a step back in his development.

I could be wrong, but he just seems way to good not to play, he's definatly too good for the nhl. In an odd way, it would be best for his development.

Sandin will probs get playtime as lets face it someone will get covid on that blue line but if everyone is healthy i just dont see it occuring
