At least he only makes $9M for 7 more years. Everyone crapped on the Canes for not getting anything for him in the trade. What they got was not having to negotiate that contract.

It's probably a wake up call for Skinner, he has been pretty unimpressive in training camp so far. Just because he makes 9 mil doesn't mean he's assured a top 6 spot or even a roster spot at all. That's a good message imo. You gotta perform to earn the spot and earn ice time

My point was that he is assured a roster spot. Because of the NMC.
