So... I've waisted the last 30 mins trying to track the root of this rumour. As far as I can tell, it came from this clown: [https://twitter.com/BrianHedger/status/1350085042173857796]
From a since deleted tweet. The only 'notable names' to pick up on it were Stu Cowan and Nick Kypreos, which should tell you of the seriousness of this 'trade offer'.
I believe Bergevin when he says Suzuki, KK, Romanov, Price, and Weber are not moving (the last two for obvious reasons). He's been pretty open about it over the last couple months. Unlike the Subban example, where he was "listening to calls" -- He hasn't been coy when talking about the 3 rookies. They're still in the early plans for the future of this franchise.
PLD would be an exiting acquisition, but there's the cap to consider here. KK's value is in his young age (20) and especially his ELC. Even if PLD is an improvement today, I don't think MTL makes that deal. I can see an example of Danault + Caufield + Picks being a possible trade offer. MTL needs to move cap space if acquiring PLD. Also, the attractive idea for MTL here is to cement 3 centres below the age of 22 for the future.
But then, CLB seems to want to be competitive now? So, maybe future prospects and picks is not enticing for them. I just don't think MTL will be the dance partner for this trade. It looks like a one-for-one trade, and I don't know who will give it to Jarmo...
