The idea on many Pens forums is to trade Letang and sign Dougie Hamilton in the offseason. He's not a PP guy like Letang or an amazing offensive defender. We're paying him to shutdown the other team and he does a damn good job at it. Once his offense game develops he'll be a top 10D in the league making 4.4m per year.

Dahlin Heiskanen Hugues Makar Fox McAvoy Werenski Ekblad Chabot Provorov ( I just named 10 young dman better than Marino ) and that’s without counting all the best veteran dman in the league like Hedman Josi Slavin etc etc. Marino isn’t a top25 dman, calm down

Only McAvoy, Makar, and Fox are definitely better than Marino.

Provorov is average at 5v5, he gets boosted by his goals/60 and finishing impact. Marino is better than him
Werenski is terrible defensively. Marino is better than him.
Dahlin isn't great defensively either, he has a good PP impact. Marino is better than him.
Ekblad and Hughes are similar to Werenski in that they're not amazing defensively and get boosted by their offensive output
Chabot is terrible defensively, but he's very good offensively, he's the opposite of Marino

Marino had some of the best defensive impacts of all defensemen in the league in 19/20. You're grossly underrating him.

Marino is so good I watched a pens game and didn't even notice him, kids got a while till he's a number one ☺️

I missed the part where your biased eye test evaluation matters.

Marino was terrific defensively last year and nothing you say will change that.

Great! Well Brendan Dillon is one of the best defensive players in the league, he's a shutdown player... Last time I checked being good at defending didn't make you worth a whole ton competitively. And anything you say is alot more biased then me talking about 2v teams I don't have any dislike or like for

Brendan Dillon is good? He too is one of the best DFD's in the league?

Marino as a young top 4 RHD who had excellent defensive numbers as a rookie is worth way more than what you think he is.

Laine on the other hand who sucks offensively at 5v5, is terrible defensively and lives off the PP, and gets carried by his linemates, isn't worth as much as you think he is.

Marino and Laine are far closer in value than you make them out to be

I don't even know what to say. But I can't listen anymore, I am clearing my head so don't be offended if you don't get responses from me anymore.
