PariseSuter say F-U to GMBG and destroy the cap

Description
Just venting on how bad the GM has made the team with his vision this offseason. Staal, Kunin, and Donato (maybe Koivu too) are all upgrades to the players Guerin brought in. Yet they'll somehow squeak into the 4th spot in the West, not sell off any of their rentals, miss out on a lottery pick, and get swept in the 1st round.

Parise and Suter have had enough also. They decide the the last $10m (less with escrow, taxes, and payback for the NHL taking a huge loss this year) of their deals isn't worth it and hang up their skates.

It was a rough estimate of the recapture penalty. I think JEE+Fiala+Kaprizov will be around a combined $18m to re-sign.

Yes JEE is still stuck on the 3rd line, and all the skill players are separated for line balance.

I just want to see what the recapture penalties would look like on paper.

really sucks that getting swept in the 1st and taking all the old, overpaid former penguins is minnesota’s identity these days. Hopefully they figure it out, I’m a huge fan of kaprizov, fiala, boldy, and beckman and that’s a pretty solid core of top 6 wingers to build around (could use another top C prospect though, not sure rossi+khovanov will be an ideal 1-2)

Debbie-downer, at least your not a Sharks fan. They have a horrible 10-15 years ahead of them. I think they will have the worst rebuild the NHL has ever seen when they finally decide to do it in 5 years after another horrible 5 years.

At least your team knows how to put the puck in the net tears of joy Watching the Ducks right now is like watching the late 90's/early 2000's Devils, except they aren't playing the trap, they've just got Gibby doing some Gibby stuff back there.

Also, Parise and Suter agreeing to waive for the expansion draft, and then saying "We're tired of this organization/this crap, we're retiring!" seems hilariously wrong.

This seems like one of those Leaf posts where fans blow up the team after a loss just because.

Suter isn't screwing over the Wild, regardless of his opinion about Guerin his BFF is Leipold. Parise will whine some more to the media until Guerin finds a trade so he can go play somewhere else. Life will go on.

I'd like to see them go to the owner and say we're retiring unless this GM is gone (Walz banned from the pressbox too). Victor Rask and Nick Bjugstad should not be fighting for the 1C spot on any team.

The HC and whoever designs the PP need to be gone too. I didn't think it was possible to look worse on the PP than they did last year. Yet here we are.

I'm excited for Zucc to get healthy. I can't believe I'm saying that. MarJo has been that bad. Kaprizov unless Bordin/Dumba is on the ice with him he's playing 1v5 hockey in the o-zone.

They weren't winning anything with the roster they had last year so I'm confused why anyone wishes they had that roster. Kunin wasn't going to be more than a 3rd liner, so getting a guy who could be a top 6 center and another pick that was used to get a needed defense prospect is fine. Bonino is whatever, hopefully they trade him for anything they can use in the future but focusing so much on Bonino as the return is no different than saying "man Galch sucked, wish they kept Zucker". Same with Johansson and Bjugstad (who is looking more and more like he'll cost them nothing but cap space they didn't need anyhow). Staal was better than Johansson but useless down the stretch so at least we get straight to the useless contribution part with Johansson.

This team NEEDED to take a step back this year. They're doing that. They haven't played any of the good teams in the division yet and they're not looking like a team who will be just good enough.

        6M for JEE ????

The kid is turning into a stud. He paced a .5ppg the last 60 games of last year with no PP time and not great linemates. His d-zone play is Selkie level. He's in year 5 now, so he's do the long term contract with lots of UFA years. Cirelli got $4.8m bridge deal, and Danault is looking at $6m+ this offseason. This is the range of JEEs next deal.

Staal was useless? That's funny. He was useless at the start of the season, not the end. Working backwards in 10 game increments:
        4 game Playoffs: 1g/4a
        last 10 games: 2g/4a
        previous 10 games: 1g/7a
        previous 10 games: 3g/0a
        previous 10 games: 5g/6a
        previous 10 games: 2g/5a
        previous 10 games: 6g/7a
        first 6 games: 0g/1a

To be even more clear: MarJo, Bjugstad, Hunt, and Rask would pass though waivers (no positive value). Staal, Donato, and Kunin would not. Bonino and Cole might get 3rds if MN retains half on them. That's the thing about taking a step back. The rentals you are look to sell have worse years because the overall team is so bad.

Of course this team wouldn't beat the good teams in the Division as they are setup. They have worse center depth than CHI right now, and that's with CHI missing Toews and Dach. If Guerin did nothing to the team this offseason they're easily in the top-4 in the West (or old Central) and not right up against the cap.

The expansion draft scared Guerin so he dumped young players in the name of futures. Losing one of Donato, Greenway, Kunin, or Soucy would hurt, but they could have covered that loss. Now he's going to lose 3 of Donato, Kunin, Greenway, and Soucy.

As much as we want to tell ourselves the Kunin/Bonino it was for the future. We're really just hoping that the guy we picked turns into the player Kunin (15g+ middle-6 FWD) currently is.
