Description
So y'all probably saw that they sign Curtis Hall, my question is that they only signed him to a ahl contract, i only saw him play in the junior in a really lower role, but he have good numbers in the NCAA with leading is team in scoring last season at 19. So my main question is why they didnt sign him to a entry level ? (i know hes not NHL level) but like Matt Filipe have a ELC, and even if they didnt sign him to a ELC will it affect his first nhl contract or not ?
I don't think its because we dont want to sign a other nhl contract because we have 4 left so im really curious about it

if you can exlain i would love it thx

Contract slots. Teams only have 50. Although Bruins have 4 slots left I don’t think they wanted to bother wasting one. If he is ever needed at the nhl level they can sign him to an elc.

only have 50 slots worth of contracts... They will most likely sign him to an ELC in the offseason. Nothing to worry about.

The CBA is so complicated, the CBA in covid times with an expansion coming up is bananas complicated. I’m sure there’s a reason for it, and I’m sure it doesn’t say anything about the player. He looks to have some potential.

The guys above me pretty much summed it up. It was just to maneuver around the contract limits. He should sign his normal ELC in the offseason.

Dominic Tiano summed it up well on Twitter. As others have said, it doesn't use a contract slot and according to Dom it also doesn't burn a year of his ELC. Hall was kind of in a tough spot because he had nowhere to play with Yale's season being cancelled. It could have been do a 1yr AHL deal then sign your ELC (which he was expected to sign after this season) as planned or miss a season of hockey.
