Only Lou would do this. Don't get me wrong, I'd happily have Martin on the Leafs as the 13th forward making league minimum. But 1.5 million for 4 years is just so Lou.

They were the only wingers who weren’t on for a goal against - they better not come out of the lineup. Imagine trotz takes wahlstrom out after scoring his 1st goal lol.

Nelson had 54 pts in 68 games last season - 30 G 60 pt pace. He’s worth more than 6 million right now.

If you think so that's great. I don't.

The 'on pace for' is blahhhh or bs to me.

The career stat's show he can get you 25 in a full program - awesome BUT that deal smells now and he hasn't hit 33 yet when it expires...
Look at the NYI board ^ ^ ^ there are many more along the same lines.

I'd prefer if both Nels/Lee were at US$5M per and then there would be $$ for more younger talent and not $343K in 'Christmas party money' left over = a third of an NHL entry level deal if you will!

It’s not just points - Nelson’s underlying numbers have been great over the last two seasons - led all forwards (including barzal) in WAR and had the 2nd best defensive metrics . 150+ game sample size. He’s a high end 2C right now and models project him to live up to his contact for 4 of the remaining 5 years of the contract. Isles have quite a few bad contracts, Nelson isn’t one of them.
