Description
Nugent Hopkins signs because he is a quality guy and he sees the steps they have taken over the last couple years Edmonton can also go 8 years so they get him on a cheaper AAV. Tomas Tatar sees the chance to play with great talent on a rising team and decides to ditch Montreal. Everybody has got too big of a head over there.

As IF Edmonton is a rising team! Look at the standings, you see those 3 teams at the top of the North Division those are the rising Canadian teams and the 3 at the bottom those are the ones still trying to figure out how to construct a competitive roster. (Ottawa and Vancouver are a lot closer than Edmonton by the way) McDavid will want out before Tatar does.

Edmonton is a goaltender, a 3C and a top defence away. Defence they are trying to grow and the other two they tried to get this offseason. They lost about 3 games from stupid mistakes and taking bad penalties they aren’t that far out. It’s easy to look at the standings when Edmonton only played the top teams in the division and not Ottawa or Calgary yet.

So three key players (in your opinion) I think they could also use a true top line winger still to go with McDavid plus some better depth wingers for the 3rd line but that's just my opinion. Also don't try whining to a Habs fan about not playing any of the weaker teams yet LMAO. We started the year against the Leafs, Oilers, Canucks and Flames we have yet to play the Sens. In fact we still have I think 2 more games to go before we get the Sens. And our first 6 games were all on the road and 5 were on a west coast swing. Yeah we had the harder schedule and proved how deep we really are.

Edmonton **** the bed their first game against Vancouver lost 2 honestly to Montreal and gave away a game to Winnipeg and Toronto with penalties and Poor net front defending. They were right there with the score just a couple slashing calls away from 2 more wins.

So now you are going with too undisciplined huh. Did you know so far this year Montreal averages 13.6 PIM per game that is second only to Vancouver who average 15 PIM per game. Do you know where Edmonton ranks? 24th with just 7.6 PIM per game. Yup that's right Edmonton gets half of the penalties per game than Montreal but Montreal is still a top team.

Against Toronto last game every time they scored the tieing goal and had momentum they got a penalty 1 minute later. They did that twice and Toronto scored both times. You can take lots of penalties but it better be defending the net not a stupid slash at the blue line.

Preaching to the choir my friend first game of the season the PP finished 7-1 for the Leafs. We still managed to send it to O.T. though and lost cause of player selection by CJ IMO. CJ played that game not to lose instead of playing to win.

Zmach, you realize that the whole thing about Edmonton being a bottom team and McDavid wanting out was just in response to your thread right? I am not really anti-Edmonton and if you look at my post history you will see I predicted Toronto Edmonton and Montreal to be top teams in the North this year.

Who is overrating Tatar? If anything, he is under-appreciated...

And 2 top 6 wingers and 3-5 bottom 6 players and a backup and 3 more defenceman away from being a contender

The OIlers had 7 PPs vs the Habs in 1 game and lost 5-1. Leafs rely on their PP to win games. Again, PPs dont happen as much in the playoffs. OVERRATED and another 1st round exit vs Winnipeg or Calgary. Two heavy teams were the soft Leafs lay down. Leafs getting killed at 5on5 this year. They are worse every year since Kadri trade. Oops

Tell yourself whatever you need to. The facts are the team is way better defensively this year than last. Their offence has suffered a little but being good at defending is what they need to do better and are doing it, they'll be fine offensively. As for "Heavy Teams" like Calgary and Winnipeg, neither are bigger than the Leafs. The Leafs have I think 2 players under 6 foot on the team. They are big, and have toughness and speed and skill. Just keep chirping.

I would give Tuna 6 Mil x 5 years but that would be the max. I don't think I would go to 6.5 Mil.
