Canucks fans have probably posted this like 100 times but COME ON!
not actual trades below, just changing decisions of the off season

losing Tanev and Markstrom (10.5 Mil Salary) caused Benning to acquire Hamonic, Schmidt and Holtby (11.5 Mil Salary)

Benning essentially said no to Toffoli in lieu of signing Virtanen..... cause that's a good choice.

just looking at the numbers mad me realize what a blinder the off season was... i mean i always new.... just not this bad.

Having to resign Petersson and Hugues at the end of this season might have had an impact on the decision making.

I still don't regret the past.

it hurts this year, but it will pay off next year and going forward. these contracts (markstrom/Tanev/toffoli combined) would have hurt far too much long term

Regardless of fixing those mistakes, VAN way overachieved last season and wouldn't repeat. This doesn't make them a contender, just gives you 4-8 wins more at the max.

The only way for Canucks fans to get closer is to fire the GM. He's responsible for the mess in Vancouver who showed so much promise in the bubble last year. Letting Toffoli go when he endedup signing for 4.25M is ridiculous and letting Markstrom go was pure stupidity. Not to mention the mix and match defence he put together on the fly.
