might as well throw in dube, markstrom, lindholm, and tkachuk if you’re gonna post a ridiculous trade

This is pretty bad
The blue chip trade piece is a 27year old Gaudreau
Besides him only having 1year after this left on his contract-
he’s too old for us to rebuild around

And if we do trade Eichel- then it will be another rebuild

This trade proposal will easily be beat by many other teams

Well the flames fan above you thinks it’s a ridiculous overpay so now I don’t even know. My thought process was you get a couple good young pieces and a first. Then gaudreau can either be extended or traded for more futures.

But you aren’t taking into account that your trade offer will be beat by other teams
At least half the league would be bidding on Eichel
And with him being under contract for 5more years after this....
we have all the time in the world to wait for the offer we want

Ya I get that. It definitely could be beat if a team went all in. I think the trade has good value but lacks the centrepiece that the sabres would be looking for like you said.

Any trade for Eichel has to be centered around Tkachuk

Man, the Flames decline this all day. I can't imagine the Flames doing this without Gaudreau, let alone including Gaudreau. The Flames wouldn't trade Valimaki for Stone, they are not going to trade Valimaki and Mangiapane and Zary and a 1st and Gaudreau. Flames walk away, for sure. As for Buffalo rebuilding, check out the ages on Valimaki and Mangiapane - its a super young trade. Buffalo would pitch this and expect to get laughed off the phone.

You have until his full no move clause kicks in. So one year. I cannot imagine a single team bidding higher than this. You have to consider the cap hit. No team can absorb a 10 million hit, so money is coming back, and that will eliminate a lot of teams.

We can take $$$ back
That doesn’t eliminate anyone

😂😂😂 the Flames would offer this- AND- more if they really wanted Eichel
Most of the league would be interested in him,
and you’ll have to outbid a lot of teams

Deal starts with Tkachuk, Sabres are not going to move Eichel for nothing.

You can take $10 million back, but teams won't be able to match salaries to make that happen. For example, the Flames are moving out three players in the above deal, and coming close to making the ten million gap, but when Ryan comes back from LTIR, they are over the cap. They also have a lot of fourth line nobodies, this kills their depth.

Name a trade since the introduction of the salary cap where a team paid a huge price for a player. Find one that matches the fantasy you are concocting right now. Your best bet is Ryan O'Reilly for Berglund, Sobotka, Thompson, a first and a second. And we can see what the value of that was. Berglund, Sobotka and Thompson were all replacement level or worse, so it was cap relief and a couple of picks. Tyler Seguin would be the next comparable, and then maybe Brent Burns? These trades are rare, and the return is never what the team trading the superstar gets in return. The reality is it will be a much smaller package than you are hoping for, or they won't trade him. And won't trade him is the most likely scenario. The deal that was proposed here would be a massive return, better than anyone traded in the last twenty years has managed to get.
