Filip Forsberg

Created by: SevenLeg
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 21, 2021
Published: Feb. 21, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
NSH
  1. Chiarot, Ben
  2. Mysak, Jan [Reserve List]
  3. Tatar, Tomas
  4. Ylönen, Jesse
  5. 2021 1st round pick (MTL)
  6. 2022 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Tomas Tatar has had a slower start to the season than Forsberg, that's for sure. On the other hand, over the last three years Tatar has 2.91 P/60 compared to Forsberg's 2.61 P/60. The former is a UFA that is extended in this scenario, at 5.65m$ for 4 years. Forsberg is only one year removed from being a UFA and an extension can't be worked on just yet. Jesse Ylonen and Jan Mysak are both great prospects with middle 6 potential. Ben Chiarot is a decent second pairing defenseman who can handle the workload of first pairing minutes, and could be shipped off to a team in need a physical presence on the blueline. He could fetch a 3rd round pick.

Probably, but that's the maximum I'd give up.

There are multiple ways to make a trade work, Caufield is one, but I can't see them not having interest in this package at all.

I think they’d ask for better quality imo.

preds dont need cap. they need elite level prospects. esp if they're going to trade away an elite level talent in forsberg

I don’t think the preds would want Tatar if they’re going to rebuild. He has value but he’s not worth much to Nashville. I would make it a 3 way, trade Tatar to a contender and relay assets to Nashville.

That is just switching chairs. Fix one hole to create another. 1.5 years and a half of Forsberg who hasn't played a full season since 2016-17 is not worth that.

He’s a 1st line player. I always thought of him as 75% of Huberdeau.

when he's clicking, he's one of the better wingers in the league. his speed would work well with mtl. but he will cost you
