NSH can definitely do better. It's a lot of pieces but not a lot of quality. Rumors out that Trotz was not a fan of Ekholm when he coached in NSH though.

Its been over 6 years, I think players and opinions can change in that time

I don't think this is enough. The Komarov aspect is awful -- and Aho isn't really an NHLer. Is the 2nd compensation for taking Komarov? Is Bellows + 1st enough for Ekholm?

He did say he was the worst defenseman he's ever seen lol -- but that was at the start of Ekholm's career. I think he'd be happy to have Ekholm on his team now.

Using the Muzzin trade as a comparable, how much more do you think they'll get? Lol.

It's not more, it's what the offer is. Bellows is a wing who's already on the outs in the organization... (top 9 W who needs good playmaker with him)
Aho is a small bottom pairing D who can't get into the nhl in the isles organization.
Everyone knows Komarov is a cap dump.
The picks are what they are.... picks.

If I'm NSH, I counter with Bellows and one of Bolduc, Wilde or Salo with a 1st.

That famous Trotz quote needs a lot of context. Ekholm was 1 or 2 games into his career here, and wasn't close to being NHL ready yet. NSH had just been embarrassed by VAN, and Trotz was ripping the whole team - not just Ekholm's play. I don't think he's carrying any sort of lifelong grudge against Ekholm.

I think that's actually a pretty interesting offer from NYI -- Bellows, Bolduc/Wilde/Salo, 1st. If NSH really is rebuilding here, they could still probably take on Komarov for a pick(s) or something too.

They would have to work something because NYI couldn't add that salary without NSH taking something back.
I don't think this is the right move for the NYI, my thought is they need a pure goal scorer more then a D man but, don't think many are out there that won't cost big pieces of the farm.
Isles could lose one of those 3 young D men and still be in good shape.

I agree that it probably makes more sense for them to add offense as opposed to defense, but this is one of the better Ekholm offers I've seen.

Agreed , I think trotz would love ekholm now, but trotz always calls out young players in his post game interviews. He always had a double standard for vets

What do you think it would cost to acquire arviddson? And what happened to him over the last few years, Is he declining or is he just unlucky

Preds playstyle

He got gooned by Bortuzzo last season, came back from the injury before he was 100% and it showed in his play. When the season resumed in the bubble he was fully healed, and about the only Pred who played well. This season he's been playing pretty decently considering the whole team has been a tire fire, but none of the bounces seem to be going his way.

That being said, he does play a hard nosed, in your face style, and opponents feed him a lot of abuse. He's not going to be a guy who survives as long as a Marleau or Chara, with his playing style.
