If I were Buffalo, I'd want another solid piece.

Hilariously bad. Throw in Turcotte and another piece and they might think about it.

LA rejects. They're not moving Byfield, even if it's for Eichel. Byfield has a better upside than what Eichel is right now. Byfield is similar to an Auston Matthews or Evgeni Malkin type of player, both are better types of players than Eichel. Byfield also fits LA's core age group better.

If Eichel goes to LA, it likely starts with Turcotte, not Byfield.

HAHAHAHAHA, ok Sabres fans. Maybe we can tweak Clague and turn the pick to a 2021 1st unprotected but more than that added to Byfield (2nd OA pick this year) is astonishingly hilarious!

You are way too high on Byfield.

According to the guys on NHL radio today, the cost for Eichel is the following:

1st round pick in the next draft (likely 2022, NHL radio guys think trade won't happen before 2021 draft)
Team's 2nd and 3rd best prospects (teams will balk at the request for their best prospect)
"Good" roster player
Cap Dump

In LA's case, that would likely be this:

2022 1st Round pick
Turcotte + Kaliyev
Adrian Kempe
Jeff Carter

I wouldn't do that if I was LA. That's too much to give up for one player.

Not to mention Carter would retire.

Aside from the fact that that isn't true, why would Buffalo care? If he's a cap dump and he retires, then he doesn't cost them anything and LA gets a discounted buyout in the form of recapture penalty.

"I don't have high hopes for Byfield."

Also, not a Sabres or Kings fan. Just a lowly Ducks fan who's quite content to sit back and watch people try to justify ripping Buffalo off.

Well it is true, he has stated as much and Carter is by no means a cap dump.

honestly, this offer is a lot closer than this post. I doubt it'd be Carter going though, he likes it too much in LA. But a package around Turcotte and Kaliyev would be a good start. But any deal I'd be shocked to not see at least 2 1st round picks (1 being protected) in.

If LA gets a top 5 pick this years draft, I could see something like this working then Buffalo also gets a high end d-man as well. Then next year's first would be playoff protected.

Buffalo rips themselves off by being in Buffalo. When a player wants out, their value goes down. No star player should ever want to play there. I think Hall is finding that out, luckily for him he was smart enough to only sewer himself for 1 year.

He absolutely did not, and emphatically stated as much to the press that he didn't after those rumors surfaced a couple years ago.

I also get a kick out of when people can't justify their opinion, so they immediately switch it to "tHaT tEaM sUcKs! They should just give their players away for free!".

-Eichel hasn't asked for a trade.
-Hall was open to an extension as of a week ago.

Again, just reporting what the guys on NHL radio said. They said 1 first round pick and did not bring up lottery protection at all, so I would assume that there is none.

They also said that Buffalo isn't going to get as much as they want, and that their trade partner is going to have to give up more than they're comfortable with.

Oh so you think because a guy states something in the media that he isn't fudging the truth. So I guess you also think Eichel definitely wants to stay in BUF then too.

No, but considering there are zero credible sources that say that he said that he would retire if traded, and one credible source that says that he wouldn't (Jeff Carter himself), I'm going to believe the one with more credible sources.

Jack Eichel said that he is retiring tomorrow. No reason to trade for him.

See, I can make up rumors too.
