I don't like taking on Engvall, but if that's the price for guaranteeing a 1st then I'd still probably do it.

It makes no sense at all to trade Kerfoot for McCann. Kerfoot is certainly just as good as McCann. Then you have to wait weeks of for McCann to be ready to play.
Seems like just a trade for trades sake.

You seem to think virtually all Leafs aren't NHLers.

Yeah agree. They are practically the same player. Both teams would have to wait like 2 weeks just to get through protocol for their teams. And I don’t think either team is interested in that and the pens aren’t interested in taking on the extra cap that kerfoot carries.

What does that even mean...?

Because I don't necessarily want to take on a multi-year contract for a bottom 6 forward that NSH doesn't need??

Well certainly Engvall doesn't cost much in cap and he would take a spot in the lineup if Granlund is traded. You seem to think that teams are going to give up a player equal to Granlund' ability and get prospects and picks too. Sorry, teams that might be interested in trading for any Nashville player are going to have send cap back.

I never said any of that.

I've said in the past that a Granlund trade would be something like a 2nd + B prospect and that if Poile is good at negotiating, maybe he can make the pick conditional that turns into a 1st if the team makes the finals or something.

I have no idea what you're referring to...

Well you seem to think all Toronto players are top 6 in any other team. Nashville has plenty of bottom 6 players. There is no need for a guy like Engvall in Nashville. Granlund is a top 6 player and Engvall is not. The 1st Round is interesting but Sorry to say Engvall is not...

Sorry you see your side of the story so one sided. Of course Engvall is not top six. But you seem to think that a top team is going to trade their top six players and picks and prospects for UFA Granlund. And all teams have to send cap back in a trade.
No teams are who are going on a gotta flop top six players and give Nashville a whole lot more. It's a ridiculous fit anyway, Leafs and Nashville. Leafs have lots of wingers and then there is the quarantine period. We'll see, but gotta think these homer Nashville fans are going to really disappointed in the returns.

You know what? I am not even a Nashville fan :-) just found this trade so ridiculous. I have seen a lot of Granlund trade ideas with some thinking behind it that makes much more sense than this. Not all teams need to send back cap. Maybe as you say, Leafs and Nashville will not do business.

But I have a feeling there might be something cooking with all rumors going around. But I don’t think it is Granlund for Engvall :-)

Well it wasn't Engvall for Granlund. It was Engvall and a first for Granlund. I'm just saying in any trade...players like Engvall have to go back to. make the cap work. But somehow some Nashville fans, think they are going to getting....the Granlund for player of Grandlund equal and pick or top prospect. Well that doesn't happen with any team.

I hear you, but I think Granlund will get Nashville a 1st or 2nd pick plus a good prospect.

I don’t think necessarily cap needs to go back to Nashville. Some teams (like the leafs) might have to send back cap. But there are many teams that have interest in Granlund that have the room for him as well. Time will tell what happens :-)

It's just that so many contenders...are at the cap, so in most cases, cap has to be send back. There might be a lot of interest in Granlund but IMO the Leafs are down the list due to Covid restrictions and the Leafs have lots of winger. Gotta think if the Leafs add...it would be NHL experienced Dman, probably on an expiring contract.
