Take out Skinner from Buffalo trade and its very fair. And Kreider would get Sergachev.

Well I disagree on both notions here.

I think Rangers decline because of the Skinner contract
Tampa declines because Kreider has more term
Could be fair but Rangers probably decline

Why would they take Skinner or McDonagh? Neither is loving up to their contract and rags aren't taking cap dumps.

I second the the second notion being a bad take.

I do think that Eichel for Kakko, Schneider (Or Lundkvist), Strome, 1st (Lotto pick) and a 2nd is probably fairly close though.

Skinner's bad, but McDonagh isn't. McDonagh is about as much a cap dump as Kreider is.

Skinner's added to the trade since BUF will need to start that retool again, and NYR would gain a franchise center on a discount if they agree to take this contract in, which they certainly can afford to do.

If Skinner's dropped, I'd want Schneider changed to Lundkvist and that 2nd changed to Chytil. But I do see BUF giving them a "discount" if they agree on taking 75% of Skinner's contract.

He is earning his pay? Lol. Kreider is top-10 among goals per game. He is certainly earning his. So if you want Kreider so badly, offer up Sergachev.

Yeah that's a no from Tampa. McDonagh conveniently had a career year his contract season, but he's still a solid member of the defensemen group.

Kreider is a cap dump?! What are you even saying, man? Kreider is top-10 in goals per game. He is underpaid.

Skinner's contract is retained by a quarter. It ain't that bad if it's below $7M and he finds his game in a new environment. It happened once when he went from Canes to Sabres, it could happen again.

Tampa has a logjam piling up in their defense, but I think they'll be moving their wingers the next offseason. Also with NYR having a relatively weak left side defense, I think that swap could work. Also the term difference is for only one year.

I assume you mean the Canes trade by the latest comment, which is fine.

The offense has disappeared. He had like 40 points the year he signed his contract, but he doesn't come close to that now. His defense is still solid and allows Hedman to avoid the toughest forward competition, but that would probably be more in the $5million range for an elite defensive defenseman.

His service is practically invaluable, so, I'd want to make his contract work as long as possible.

Lmao Kreider for Sergachev sounds about as asinine as Fox for Palat. Never gonna happen.

I don't know if you missed it but Tampa just won the cup, and McDonagh was a factor on it. He's a very solid stay-at-home defenseman.

Kreider has had a good start to the season, but it's not like McDonagh has been bad. In terms of positional need both teams win here as NYR is weak on LDs and stacked with wings.

I don't know, I just don't see the Rangers tossing Chytil in. That'd still leave them with a hole at C.

I wouldn't say it's disappeared, per se. It's just that it's no longer in-demand thing for the guy, with Tampa having such guys as Hedman and Sergachev on that role.

In terms of being a stay-at-home D, McDonagh's still pretty much the league elite.

I'd consider it. No matter what, they'll lose an Eichel trade, so gaining at least something that can be perceived as victory is something to be after. In this case, it's going to be getting rid of most of that contract.

Can be filled with UFAs. Money's not an issue. A center core of Eichel-Zibanejad-Stastny-Blackwell for instance is about as good as any center core in the league.

Mac is the best penatly killer on the second best penatly kill in the league. Is a workhorse and shoulders so much defensive load allowing Heddy and Sergy to run rings around the competition. He is far from a cap dump.
Krieder is top ten in the league in goals goals per game? Shooting at an unsustainable 25% That's not going to drop to his career average of 14%.

Rangers have no LHD and a bunch of wings. TBH this trade doesn't work for either people but Krieder is closer to Mac than he is to Sergachev.

I think you do. Having a LD core of Lindgren, Miller and Johnson is, while potential, comparably quite weak. I think an experienced workhorse like McDonagh is exactly what a young team like Rangers need.
