I agree, but that's not how lines are formed. Eichel's play style would go really well with Kane and Gaudreau in 5v5 play. On the power play, however, when defense is less of a concern, Matthews definitely plays on the first unit.

The left side of that D is talented, but would get torn apart in their own end. Personally, I think Hughes has been awful this year. Slavin ahead of him for sure, and there might be a couple of other guys to consider.

Matthews would gel just fine with Kane. He's also been solid defensively this year so I would imagine he'll only be better by 2022. I think the tkatchuks would best be suited in more of a 3rd line role. If Matthews isn't with Kane, then I'd go Larkin Matthews Wheeler. Also remove Phil the Thrill and put in Kyle Conor.

Dont think any of those guys in your scratches column make the team even as alternates.

Finland > Russia

I would put Eichel with finishers and put Matthews with playmakers. Their styles are different.

Team USA is in good hands with those 2.

Sweden and Finland > Russia
