In insight certainly an overpay for EK. But the big mistake that San Jose was resigning a declining EK for 10.5m X 7 and then had to give Ottawa more for resigning him.

very true. Really just wish it worked out for both SJS and Ottawa. With Ottawa getting Stutzle and EK getting back to elite form

Didn't EK have two leg injuries in his last two seasons with Ottawa? He seemed to be playing poorly (by his standards) before the trade. Just think injuries have slowed him down, and that's killer for a player who depended on his great skating that made him a star. Hate to players injured and how it affects their performance, but that's the nature of pro sports.

He gave his all in that 2017 run. Basically playing on one leg from game 1 onward. He basically had his ankle bone replaced after the playoffs. Came back way too early and then try to compensate by hurting his groin. It was all outta whack.

Funnily enough they actually dodged a bullet by failing in the playoffs. If they had managed to beat St Louis in 2019, Ottawa would have had this year's 1st as well.

I wish! But no, we re-signed him for 11.5m x 8

No one would have thought EK would have the injury issues he did after having been traded. Guy played 70+ games in each of his last 5 seasons. 3 of those 5 were 82 games.

As a Sharks fan, it's a bummer, but it is what it is. I wish those Sharks prospects and prospects from picks the best despite the cancerous attitude of the OTT fans on this site towards the Sharks.
