They don’t need Gibson.

To be fair, I also wouldn't trade Gibson for that return.

They have plenty of money to resign everyone you’d want to next season.

Carolina do not have a hole in net. 2nd line C since Trocheck is out long term? Sure. Could they use another top 6 winger with Teuvo's concussion? Yes. Do they need a goalie? NO! Google Alex Nedeljkovic and look at his stats. Look at Mrazek's stats. They do not need gibson, their goaltending is fine!

Nedeljkovic has been insane but it is a small sample size.

Meh, I disagree, though I really don't want to trade Gibby anyway. Realistically, you're not actually giving up much here. A late 1st in a sketchy draft, a decent D prospect, and a goaltending prospect. Then you add Gardiner, who is of no use to the Ducks, and two pending UFA's.

Still wouldn’t move that much for Gibson, and the history of goalies trades pretty much says NHL GMs wouldn’t either.

I feel like that tier of goaltender has rarely, if ever, been moved.
