Sabers get a boat load back. Bellows still has upside but needs to play in a different system. Ladd is near useless now so taking 5.5 million hurts but only way deal works. Buffalo also gets two 1st rounders. Both will be in 20's or lower but can be resold to help rebuild or used during draft

Isle get huge help with Lee being gone. Hall replaces Lee in all lines. Staal adds even more center depth and flexibility to the isles as he can play up and down line up. Also losing Ladds cap helps isles for the future in possibly resigning Hall

Thats fair! The idea is that with ladds contract is gone, Hall could resign with you guys which is why the high price of the two first round picks

yeah but hall is already 30 and his best years are behind him. He was also pretty mediocre in Arizona, isles play a similar style.

You are right but no way we hold 4mil and take a bad contract back that will still have 2 yrs on it.

If Buffalo would actually want to take Ladd from the isles I’d rather see a deal go like this:

To Isles:

Taylor Hall (No retention)

To Buffalo

Andrew Ladd
Sebastian Aho

An Unretained Taylor Hall, Should probably go for 2 Seconds in this specific market - if you wanna have the 2022 2nd turn into a 2022 first if the Isles re-sign him or win the cup, I’m sure if the isles win the cup we are not going to care and if we re-sign him we are going full send for the next 3 seasons anyway and that first won’t help us in time.

The cost of Ladd is a 1st and a cheap NHL ready defenseman with Offensive Upside (for when you trade RR). Ladd honestly could be on your 3rd or 4th line for the next couple seasons. He hits a lot and can stand in front.
