Graves would probably be available at the right price pre-expansion now that Avs have MacDonald close to meeting the criteria as the Dman that needsto be exposed. It would depend on whether or not Avs need capspace though.

The defense has been awful, no one knows how to play in their own end. And holtby hasn't been good but I hope you realize how ridiculous it sounds to blame him for the team's struggles when he doesn't even play half the games

Ryan Graves is my favourite target of the bunch in this proposal for that reason, though I wouldn't mind Dumba or Pettersson for the right price either. Larsson would be a decent get but that contract feels like an overpay to me and if that's market price I'd bow out

So the question becomes does Sakic try and play chess at the XD, delay Landy signing till after XD go 4-4-1 protecting MacK, Mikko, Kadri, Burkie, Makar, Toews, Girard, Graves (get EJ to waive) and Grubauer. The draw back being Jost is guaranteed to be the pick though.

I don't think it's worth taking the risk that Seattle could drop a huge contract that we can't match on Landeskog to come in and be their captain and 1st line winger, especially just for the sake of Graves.

Besides, even if Landeskog had a handshake deal with Sakic Seattle would easily just take Nichuskin who is an analytics darling. Seattle are rumoured to be heavy into analytics afterall, and he was leading the league in Corsi among forwards last time I checked.
