Oleksiak-Bogo bottom pairing would be nice "tough pair"-- would help if leafs played MTL in playoffs

Would much rather keep Perreault and the better draft picks.

That's why I like this deal, we need a guy like oleksiak for added grit in the playoffs whereas the stars can take time to develop dermott

Yes and put him on the left with Miro or his own pair on the third-- good deal for both

Yes I think TOR will try to get a Miles Wood or that type of player

There's nothing in the deal that would tempt the Jets. They're better off keeping Perreault and the picks.

Why would pittsburgh accept that?

Counter:

1st (2022) + Faksa + Dickinson for Zucker + Bjorkqvist + 4th

Very hard no on the Oleksiak deal. Not only is the value heavily tilted in the Stars' favor, imo, but Dermott is one of our only two potentially unprotected Dman that meets exposure requirements. Considering the Leafs, as they stand right now, will likely be going the 4-4-1 route, this would leave them in a very unfavorable position.

It isn't good value. Find me any stat that proves Oleksiuk is better than Dermott.

Here comes the "Oleksiuk is big so that means he's better than Dermott" crowd.

Because moving one of the best skating defenceman on the team for a big guy helps against a fast team like Montreal. Dermott has been really good this year. He isn't getting traded for a lateral move.

Dermott has grit, he's also one of the best skating defenceman on the team which is so important against a team with speed like Montreal. This is just one of those, "I like big tough guys because blood excites me" moves.

I think the deal proposed wasn't enough for Zucker and this counter is way too much for Zucker.
I think something in between would make more sense, probably a 2nd instead of a 1st

Dermott: 1G, 1A for 2 PTS in 32 GP
Oleksiak: 3G, 5A for 8 PTS in 33 GP

Plus for your point that dermott has been good this season, think again. 2 points in 32 games, horrible defensively, turnover machine, and he is horrible offensively too

Ah the old points are all that matter argument. He's a positive player from most advance stats perspectives. Looking at his XGF%, SF% and HDC% he's extremely good. Oleksiak hasn't been bad really but it's better than Dermott. As far as turnovers are concerned they are rather close. 44 in 32 games for Dermott and 31 in 26 for Oleksiak. Although turnovers for defenceman is so hard to gauge. For example, flipping the puck to centre and the other team gaining possession has been logged as a turnover. So after doing a small amount of digging. Dermott is as good as Oleksiak and costs less and nothing to acquire. Just another Leaf fan thinking everyone else's players are better than ours because reasons.

Where did I say he couldn't skate? I said Dermott is one of the best skaters on the team, which he is. He's also a better skater than Oleksiak. Which is true. You're just a Fairweather fan who bends to the will of the internet mob think. Dermott hasn't forced his way into the top 2 pairs so he sucks. Oleksiak is big and on a different team that means he's better. Did you do any looking into that to prove it? Not at all. But now let's throw insults because someone you don't know challenged your thinking. Grow up.b

I think all 3 of these trades are ridiculous...
1. No reason for Winnipeg to accept that deal.
2. Toronto trade would be foolish for them; that 3rd pairing would just get skated right around it.
3. That Pittsburgh trade is just your 3rd rip-off in these proposals. Try Faksa; a 2nd and a 3rd. Still not sure why Pittsburgh does this because they would have to make another trade to get a winger.
