They probably don't need him. I could see the Devils trading Gusev at 50% to the Panthers or Oilers for a 3rd

Isles are not going to trade Wilde for Zajac. At most he gets a 3rd, more likely a 4th if he even waives to go somewhere.

The Devils have a number or LHD prospects with similar or higher ceilings than Vaakanainen
Boston has some injuries on blue line and has been using Vaak
So there is probably a more fitting prospect to include here
Swayman, Studnicka, Lohrei, etc.
