Since everyone is circumventing cap anyways

Created by: HockeyFanMTL

Description
So since everyone is circumventing cap anyways - at least all the top tier teams, might as well join the bandwagon and try to emulate them to get results.

Doctors place Weber / Price on LTIR during the seasons - they only come out of LTIR free of injury for the playoffs obviously. During the summer they go back on LTIR due to "an injury suffered during the playoffs"

There we go. So now when the playoffs happen you add Gallagher, Price, Werenski and Weber back into the line up. Call up Caufield too if you need to.

Heck there's still 9 mill left on the cap with all that LTIR space. who else can we get?

So this is how you have to build a team right? this is how the salary cap works? you just keep good players on the LTIR until the playoffs.
Sounds good. time for us to no longer be a mediocre team.

Also if it's not apparently obvious that this is basically *a JOKE ENTRY TO BLOW OFF STEAM* because the team is mediocre every year for the past 30 years with a handful of exceptions.

Yeah - the guy on waivers is a trade piece lol (none of those trades fetch those players rip)

Idk if I'd call Montreal mediocre though. MB did a lot to try and put a good team together and they're just in a rough patch.

Teams or teams doctors don't have the final say whether a player goes on LTIR. The NHL and their doctors decide if a player is unfit to play.

Yeah it's just the frustrations I guess. As stated in my description it was just a joke entry to blow off steam. It's just confusing. MB is doing a decent job of improving the team on paper, but there's always these weird losing streaks every season. Likewise this season, It's all nice and good to be the 4th seed - but don't get too complacent! Even covid-vancouver or calgary won't have a problem catching up if we keep up a losing streak.

Columbus declines easily. Suzuki would have to be in any Werenski trade.

I didn’t know the nhl had its own doctors to evaluate players for LTIR. So even if the TB doctors are falsifying records, which they should lose their license if so, the nhl has the final say?

And no I’m not saying TB is falsifying, I’m using an example

That would be the second time Kane and Armia would be traded for each other.

The NHL is the judge and jury regarding the rules set forth by the owners. Teams can't circumvent the CBA and other league rules. Plus insurance companies have a say whether a player is fit.
Tampa you might say have benefitted having Kucherov and maybe Stamkos on LTIR this season for cap reasons, but of course they haven't had use of their star players.

I just didn’t know the nhl had its doctors or say in what a team does. Interesting

The NHL , just like the MLB and NBA and NFL are not owners. They are administrators of the policies, rules, and CBA set forth by the owners, players and other legal jurisdictions.
Teams that play by the rules such as the cap, don't want teams getting an advantage by circumventing the rules. So in effect the NHL and its employees are the judge and jury in that matter and so many other league policies.

That'll teach me to be drinking anything while looking at a new AGM. My laptop didn't get hit but I had to switch tops and my nose hurts like hell now.

"Joke entry". Okay. Cool. So they're not actually intended to be serious value. Okay. Fine. Cool.
