Klefbom status makes any trade involving him a no go. I'd say he is likely leaning towards retiring at this point.

I'm convinced its posturing in order for the Oilers to get away with not protecting him and Seattle not wanting to waste a selection on a player that might otherwise retire.

Athletes are at the end of the day competitive. If his shoulder is good to go and the Oilers are closing in on being a cup-contending team, he probably plays out his contract. Does he sign another after that? Hard to say, but to think he wouldn't chance it over the next two years doesn't really add up.
