    RNH is going to get more than that, that’s just not realistic. Why in the world would ANA do that trade? But to prove the post is equal opportunity bad trader that is a massive over payment for Varly.

    Barrie is consistently top 5 scoring D... how many times has Bouchard done it? I think he'll be great someday but not yet. Oilers need to be a contender now. Nurse took 5 years to become top pairing guy and he was a #7 overall pick. People who think Bouchard will immediately become a top pairing D need to do better research.

    ANA is rebuilding. Bear is solid 2nd pairing D, Marody makes their team middle 6, Koskinen one of the best backups in league and only 1 year at 4.5M. Gibson needs reliever with Miller retired. Oh, and a pick. Might be a slight overpay for a 2RW with 1year left who won't be re-signing.

    Wow such a big overpayment for Varly who has a NTC. Surely the Oilers can find a 5m goalie, without giving up in effect giving up two firsts.
    Gee, just for cap reasons, we have seen teams "give away" players.

    Disagree with signing your UFAs before the draft....let them sign after and protect more players in effect.

    Why would they take that hodge podge of nothing when they can easily trade him for a 1st + for a team that needs young talent. I’m not even an ANA fan and I know that’s a no on that trade.

    Constructive AGM overall with much more sensible FA contracts than usual and a tactful approach, neat to use Getzlaf as a way help Holloway adjust to NHL

    Likely can get a better return but:

    Why overstate your case while dismissing everything they've provided? Marody is an elite AHL scorer and 24 he easily has the value of most 2nd rounders. ✔

    Rakell is 174th in scoring this season it's not exactly a sell high situation I mean he's within range of 30 and his one All Star appearance was 3 years ago now

    It's a pretty reasonable offer

    Everyone is so unnecessarily harsh here 😑

    Yeah exactly Bouchard at very best steps in and does what Vince Dunn is doing in STL and doesn't seem to have the power play skillset Barrie has in spades

    I think an issue is he always looks so much older

    But he's only 21 ultimately

    Oilers are deep with LD prospects (Lagesson, Broberg, Samarukov) and already have Nurse and Klefbom (assuming he returns)... Archibald is their leading hitter, a monster forechecker, critical penalty killer, and can play anywhere in their lineup LW or RW, 1st to 4th line. He's a Swiss Army knife for 1.5M and they need him.

    How many of any other player's points are because of teammates? And what about the other D-men who have played with those guys over the last 5 years? Why didn't they put up the same kind of numbers? It's a bad argument.

    Pretty much all the greats have had a great offensive-defenseman to get them the puck. Bouchard might become that one day, but it'll take a few years. Barrie is that right now. No one else on the Oilers D has this on their resume.

    His defensive play is horrendous and would be a lot worse if it weren't for the development of nurse .
    Mcdavid and drai has made wingers such as kassian appear to be to be top line wingers when they clearly are not
