That's about right for Engvall given the flat cap world

Ottawa won't give up Brown for so little, he's not what they thought he would be but they won't admit defeat yet for PR reasons alone

Winnipeg's locker room is toxic enough as is

LA has no interest in moving Byfield. Miller would be the best returning asset in that trade offer and that's far too big a gap in value IMO

No where near enough for Laine. He's had a bad season but I attribute that more to Columbus than him. One promising prospect and a bag of "meh" doesn't fetch a goal scorer like him.

I don't think the Rangers need saving.

They are a young team that is just emerging from a rebuild.

The owner panicking and deciding to build a team of face punchers who aren't good at hockey is something they need to be saved from

Logan Brown just turned 23. I'm sure Ottawa is frustrated though and would consider moving him, but it would likely be part of a bigger deal. If it's a deal that's for Logan Brown ONLY I can't see them taking less than a late 2nd. Or swapping say Logan Brown and their own 3rd rd (or TB 2nd) pick for middle pick in the 1st round. Less than that and they'll just sign him and gamble that he finally get healthy.

No top-6 center, no Laine. We're still better off trying to rehab him here.

How do you rehab Laine when you don't have a center who is great at carrying the puck and passing? Laine is a one trick pony but it's a really really good trick probably top three finisher in the NHL but even without Laine you might have won the trade - are you going to pay Laine 7.5-8.5 mil and try to put the players around him to get the most out of him ? it could go sour real fast.

That LA trade is confusing. MacDermid while he’s tough is one of the worst d in the league. The kings also have no interest in moving Byfield, but that’s a lot to give up for him all things considered. You have also turned a strength into a weakness, NYR were set with Miller and Lindgren at LHD. Now they have Stanley and Jones, both could turn out to be good but I’d take Lindgren and Miller over those two 11 times out of 10.

The NHL is now a Schizo place it starts with Lady Bing Hockey for the first three quarters of the year then devolves the last quarter and the playoffs - so you have to play kinda pretty to get in position and then slogg thru

Yeah I’d be more willing to have a guy like MacDermid up front, easier to him there. I think having 6 decent is important that’s just me tho.

Think of it this way with the two RD ahead of him how many minutes is he going to get but you have some size throughout the lineup not goons but guys bullies might think twice about disturbing.

Several possible ways. We can attempt to acquire such a center via other means. We can develop the project centers we've got. We could possibly get Laine to change his game a bit more with offseason time and practice. Yes, it could go sour quickly, and in that case we'd consider other trades, but even then we're likely to get better than a handful of depth prospects at positions we don't need. (Seriously, LD and RW are about the last things we need right now, in prospect OR roster player form, and three of those four guys are at those positions.)

LD and RW are also your most tradeable pieces if you want 1st line center

Don't take this the wrong way but I have never had any respect for anything you have posted including your GM name.

Lol, how should I take it then? What's the right way?

The Winnipeg deal is the only one I would do and I know nothing about Logan Stanley. The Kings deal is crazy bad. And the Columbus deal for Laine is one we don't need.

You are Crazy - That's a cup contender that can be pretty and can survive being banged on - the Lafrenière, Byfield, Laine line is a master piece of synergy that make each player better

A masterpiece of synergy? What the ....

Kravtsov will outscore Laine next year. Byfield has done nothing yet in NHL while the FOUR core players you traded for him have all had good seasons.

Well if Laine stays with the Bluejackets you may be right that Kravtsov out scores Laine - but Laine would make Byfield and Byfield would make Laine - conservatively that's an eighty goal line

There is no chance that Laine/Byfield out produce Strome/Buch

And yet none of those prospects will do a damn thing towards addressing such a scenario.

It's a failed proposal. Deal with it.
