What possible reason could the sens have for making this trade?

It's not a rangers AGM without a trade for a player thats obviously not available,

That'll get Lafreniere some fighting lessons from Brady, but that's about it. Brady is getting the C this summer.

Why not Chabot?

Chabot is fantastic, and he's a good leader and would be a good captain, but he's not Brady. Brady is the pulse of the team. He sets the standard for effort every night, and he spends the entire game bringing the team up to his level, even when the team just doesn't have a shot that night. He plays every game like it's a game 7.

Our head scout on chucky: “he drags you into the fight whether you want to be there or not.” Chabot is a great leader and elite defenseman but that should tell you all you need to know about how the organization views tkachuk, and why he’ll be the captain. Chabot will be an excellent assistant captain and you need multiple good leaders so he’ll be a great support to chucky.

the values alright but the sens are trying to go forwards not backwards in their rebuild so i dont think it makes much sense
