Habs probably decline this one. The pick could be top 10 when they get back to normal divisions & they have not given up on Kotkaniemi. This is also the team that shipped out Domi, Kassian, Beaulieu, Galchenyuk due to attitude issues.

I think there's something here for STL - I think both Dunn and Eller can pull firsts in trades. STL will have a hole there if they don't bring certain UFAs back, but it might not be their most pressing hole. They are also probably better off keeping Dunn. I like the creativity here though.

Kuznetsov's value is always so greatly debated. I think both he and KK get overrated in trades by their fanbases. I don't think this return is absurd, but it's steep. Although I think KK's ceiling is that of a 2C, and MTL urgently needs a 1C or first line offensive talent, this is a very patchwork move (that doesn't really fit their cap) that will hurt long term. Maybe dropping the pick a round will make more sense for each side.

II see no complaint with the remaining moves

Kuzy doesn’t have an attitude issue though? maybe maturity but Lav asked him to play better defensively and he has held up his end even though it’s hurt his offense. I can’t think of anyone ever saying he’s had a bad attitude ever. He’s generally a happy lovable guy.

You can swap the 1st to 2021 if that makes you feel better but adding Kuzy will more than likely give them better odds at being a playoff team imo. I would t say this is them giving up on him. Just trading him for a much better player. Not like they moved him for a 2nd round pick

I’d be willing to swap the 1st to the 2021 where the draft seems like it’s going to be lackluster but Habs add a great Offensive center. I think Kuzy value is absolutely a 1st + good prospect / good roster player depending. Habs based on the team they have should be in a win now or win soon mode Kuzy fits that and is a 1c.

Hopefully he has a great playoffs and they don’t have to trade him

Depending on where the first lands, it can be reasonable. I think 15 or later + KK is better. But you'd likely have to take back some cap for it to even be possible. Byron maybe.

Yeah I was thinking their 1st would be like 20 and up. They I assume Seattle would take Allen freeing up that cap. If they want Washington to take Byron I would make them pay like caps had to pay to dump Panik in the Wings deal. Idkid have to see how bad Byron is vs his cap hit

There isn't. Bozak will likely be back for less than Eller makes.

Even if he takes a little less Bozak sucks compared to Eller

    Eller

If I was the blues I wouldn’t sign him. Looks like a liability. Eller is fantastic IMO. Bozak might b a 4c at this point in his career

Thing is, adding Kuznetsov prevents the team from keeping Danault. It's basically Suzuki+Kotkaniemi+Danault+15ish overall pick or Suzuki+Kuznetsov and I take the 1st option.

As for Kuznetsov, being scratched for disciplinary reasons and being banned from the Olympics is not exactly what I call a model player.

Heh. Let's add a little context to these numbers, shall we?

    Eller - 58% O-zone starts
    Bozak - 43% O-zone starts

Bozak (who missed two months to injury in the middle of the season, mind you) has also spent a lot of his time centering Hoffman, and we all know what that means defensively 5v5. Then there's something even better than underlying numbers... overlying numbers.

    Eller - on ice for 21gf, 25ga
Bozak on ice for 11gf, 15 ga

    Eller - .53 PPG
    Bozak - .55 PPG

Finally, a couple more numbers to add color to the picture.

    Eller - 50% on draws
    Bozak - 57% on draws

Eller - 2x3.5m after this season
Bozak - something more affordable, one would presume

The moral of the story: You can't just look at Corsi/Fenwick and judge a player or compare two. Bozak does not suck, which one who actually watched him play would know. The Blues aren't giving up Dunn for a redundant but pricey 32yo. Sorry.

He’s on the covid list not a healthy scratch. Kuzy ban for coke and a ton of players do coke. “Model player” idk I played on the west coast and my buddy was in Kings camp. Kopitar was a coke monkey at the time. I would say he’s a “model player”. Danualt won’t sign to play 3c bet that.

Kuznetsov and Samsonov were scratched because they arrived late at a meeting or something. Those Kopitar stories were not public, so it doesn't matter much. As soon as the Kassian story with the prostitutes came out, he was shipped out of town. This team is obsessed by their image. Danault is still the 2C and is still the 1C depending on the match ups. He's still ahead of Kotkaniemi and could be for two more years.

Lmfao your first stat is plus minus.literally the dumbest stat. Gives no context either. Like we’re the goals 5v5 or 5v4? Just dumb AF

Why xgf% is a smarter tool to use

Their is literally 6 Capitals players that have less than 50% ozone starts.... 3 are forwards and 1 is Raffle who just joined the team... lol

Bozak wins more face offs lol so far this is all you have

Dunn for Eller might be a bad move depending on Blue view Dunn but Bozak sucks compared to Eller it’s not even close lol.

They were on the Covid list shortly after could have been the reason.? But If missing a meeting is an “attitude” issue the year the caps won the cup Ovi missed a game w an attitude issue also

Heh. And what is xGF differential but expected plus minus? You just bashed your own stat much harder than you bashed mine, and don't even realize it. You can't just read Corsi stats and compare players, they require context and the realization that five other players are also out on the ice at all times. More to the point, you don't watch Bozak play, so your opinion of his play is one-dimensional.

These are good points, and it sounds like in your view it would not make a difference that a Habs fan posted this one last week: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2379255

You're saying the Habs traded Domi away because he's got a bad attitude, and proving it with a list of other character trades that ends with Galchenyuk for Domi. Galchenyuk must have had a REALLY bad attitude. smile

    Lmfao what?!
Xgf% is a stat where shot quality is used to determine which team is expected to score more goals when a certain player is one the ice by looking at the difference between expected goals for (xGF) and expected goals against (xGA).

Your stats was gf vs ga... that’s literally plus minus but even more dumb bc you didn’t specify if some goals where pp pk for 5v5. Lol

“ You can't just read Corsi stats and compare players, they require context and the realization that five other players are also out on the ice at all times.” This is the type of argument people make when stats clearly label a player A liability.

His xgf% is 40.53%. Lol that’s terrible.... 3rd line centers are typically shutdown guys but this is awful. To add perspective to this. Last year Kuzy was heavily criticized for how awful he is at defense and his was 48.24%. Bozak is worse than that and Kuzy is bad at defense . .... like horrible

Let's try this again. xGF% is literally a differential of expected goals vs expected goals against. It's precisely expected +/- (with 50% standing in as 0) and nothing more. Both stats require context. The same criticisms that apply to the +/- stat apply to the xGF% stat. The main difference if that games are decided by actual goals, and not by xGF. How are you not getting this?

And frankly, you don't seem to understand xGF% anyway. A low xGF% doesn't automatically mean you;re bad at defense. It's just as likely to mean that their line is not generating enough chances, which has certainly been the case with Bozak lines earlier in the season. Since his return from injury, he's easily best one of the Blues' best players (3g, 10a and about 65% on draws in the last 16 games).

Besides, only looking at 5v5 doesn't tell a complete story. Bozak plays on both special teams, and both have been on fire since he came back. Shouting "Bozak sucks" entirely from one stat you don;t even read right is not compelling. Sorry.

Lmfao this is great. You don’t know the difference between xgf% and gf%. Even when I literally told you what it was your blind ignorance didn’t allow you to read the words I typed to you. Let me EXPLAIN

Gf% is what you think I mean
    21gf 25ga 45.65gf%

Xgf% is a stat where SHOT QUALITY is used to determine which team is expected to score more goals when a certain player is on the ice by looking at the difference between expected goals for (xGF) and expected goals against (xGA).

    XGF%
    22.56xgf 17.35xga 56.54xgf%

Now notice how one is different than the other. Lol JFC I swear people on this site. Read next time so annoying I need explain this 2x.

“And frankly, you don't seem to understand xGF% anyway” lmfao the irony
    Bozak gf% vs xgf%

    11gf 15gf 42.31gf%

    8.34xgf 12.24xga 40.53xgf%

This means that he gives up a ton of quality shots/ opportunities while he’s on the ice than he generates. That is literally “context” lol

Just for starters, *he* doesn't give up shot chances. He's on the ice at the time with five other players, not the same thing. As for the whole expected/actual business, I'm really not sure how that's even slightly tricky.
