Ok, Buffalo one might be a joke, but I think the Vancouver one is even more of one. Pettersson is younger and more cost controlled than eichel. This package wouldn’t get eichel let alone pettersson. Just saying.

Johnson will waive his NMC or be bought out, and there are good signs that he is goign to waive. He is a 33 year old making 6m and missed the whole season and all the playoffs with an injury, there is 0 risk in him being selected by Seattle with his health.

Avs wont be trading anyone before the XD, that just makes the lose 2 good players instead of just 1. They will let Seattle take their guy and move on.

Why the * would Johnson waive his NMC? What makes you so sure he'd waive it? He plays on one of the best teams in the league, who waives that?
But yea, you could argue the buyout is definitely worth it...

Bc there is no benefits of him refusing to waive, if he waives he stays on the avs if he refuses he is bought out and looking for work

..making $2M free dollars and going to play elsewhere, where he'd likely get another $4M and he can pick his team. Once he waives NM, Col can move him to a team like Az or Buff..

He’s been hurt all season, will miss the whole playoffs with his injury, ended the last year with an injury and was hurt the majority of last season. At this rate he is looking to be ltir retired over teams throwing money at him in the flat cap era

His best interest is to waive

Johnson waives for the expansion draft, it nullifies it so they can trade him anywhere. Seattle wouldn't take him if he did waive. And COL has Girard, Byram and Toews ahead of him on the depth chart at LD. I know he's a popular player in Denver, but I cannot find the sense in keeping Graves, bc if they move him to his off hand, would you bench Johnson and have him play behind Makar and Timmins? Gauthier aint bad there's just no spot for him on the Rangers roster and the coach benches him for a month if he takes a single penalty.

I was under the impression the Canucks are about to be in cap hell this offseason, except Jim Benning is no Lou Lamarillo. @theleano1 you seem to be a Canucks fan so help me out if I am incorrect. (in hindsight the trade is quite light on the rangers side, but I thought the Canucks were in danger of losing him to an OS (I know no NHL GM has the balls to do one, but still)

I've actually scoured the NHL rule book regarding buyouts and there is no provision limiting a team to any number of buyouts at a given time (I figured there would be one). While its never been done before, a team could have 10 buyouts on the books if they really hated their owner's money.

its reallly meida presuption of cap hell we have around 20mill in cap space a little higher or lower depinding on who seattle takes, which is more then enough to sign pettersson, not to mettion an Eriksson buyout saves money too in all likelyhood hughes and pettersson sign idencal 7.5x3 year contracts

Im glad to hear y'all can afford to keep your team together, this thread is total garbage then (it was only mostly garbage before)
I pray for your fan base that your idiot GM does not bridge Pettersson and just gives him the max term

he has a M-NTC, so they can trade him if they wanted to

There is 0 guartantree graves is taken, so they arent trading him way for nothing like in this trade. They are a better team off letting Seattle take Graves Donskoi or Compher then trading Graves away for a 3rd and a guy who wont make the Avs roster and then losing Donskoi or Compher to Seattle.

Coga you're oversimplifying the Johnson situation. At 33/34 years old, he's not going to risk being moved to a place he doesn't want to go...Once he agrees to waive, it's open season.
I agree he'll likely be bought out because of the $4M cap savings for the Avs, but I'd be shocked if he waived.

You are trying way to hard to try make some sort of narrative abou this situation that just ins there.
Even Avs media has said they have heard that EJ was open to waiving it in February. Ill go with their info on the situation vs you projecting your thoughts and feelings on EJ. What we know is that he was open to waiving it back then and logic is telling us that would still be true today, when you add in the injuries there is a very good chance he waives and its a moot point you are trying to make

If EJ wasnt hurt, he would be able to talk to the media and they would be able to reconfirm that frmo back in February, but since he is hurt, Avs do not allowed injured players to be available to the media so here we sit in the dark
