Burke gets Eichel

Description
Definitely looks like a long shot, but would anything be more Brian Burke than pulling off a blockbuster to get an American center from boston that played in hockey east?

Rangers get their center for a year, which, unlike all the wacky offer sheets for Pettersson and the like doesn’t put them in cap hell as it’s only for a year.

For the most part, I’m not dealing with the re-signing of RFAs and UFAs, this is just the trade concept.

Why?

First off Malkin isn't waiving for the Rangers, There's been talk that he'd only waive for the Panthers. The value just isn't there for Malkin that's why.

Obviously but it’s just unrealistic

Yeah I forgot Malkin has a NMC. There's no way he waives for Buffalo and of course Buffalo would want better picks and prospects.

That would be true...if skinner was playing playing at that 60 point pace. Over the past two seasons he’s been at an 82 game pace of 27 points. He’s playing like a 1.5 million dollar player. Sabres save 7 million, which they can then use as they see fit.

Over his carear he's a 50 point 25goal
Goal guy and the year he got that contract he scored 40 goals...in pretty much the 1st 1/2 of the season too. can't just use the bad data. Im not saying he's worth the money, im saying replacing him will cost similar money.

The guy that replaces his current play could be an ELC.

Didn’t exactly light it up this year did he? One year of a 35 year old isn’t worth a premium.

Obviously you trade malkin if they could get eichel. Issue is, they don’t have the pieces to get eichel.

I think if they get assets for malkin, and take on skinner, they do.

Take on Skinner for 6 seasons??

Geno contract is up after next year? Geno would be a 1 year rental. Pens would be giving up huge cap relief after next season. Ya, They better get assets in the deal.

I want to see Geno end his career in Pgh but not at 9.5M per. If they can re-sign him for 7-8M per then it’s worth it. If not, try and get a 1st round pick for him and get the cap relief. Palmieri and Foligno each brought back a late 1st and a 4th round pick as rentals. Geno should be able too as well.

....could he. I didn't notice you trading us one, unless your suggesting we ruin peterka's career asap. Seen a lot of success with guys on elc's passing pucks to guys on elc's in the top 6?

Not with 6 years of Skinners contract. They loss 9M in cap relief..lol.

Again, Geno’s contract is up at the end of next year. Why do u trade him for another 6 year 9M contract. Why wouldn’t u just take the cap relief?? For Zac Jones and a 2nd?? Lol.

I’m saying they can get a 1st for Geno without taking on contract. They can even retain some of his salary for 1 season. Palmieri and Foligno both got a 1st and a 4th as rentals. I think Geno would bring back a late 1st too without taking on that disaster of a contract.

If not, let him walk, try to re-sign him for 7-8M for 2-3 more years and let him retire in PGH. Or just take the cap relief.

You were specifically referring to the malkin trade vs palmieri. In this ACGM malkin was sent for jones and a 2nd, which is significantly greater than what palmieri got.

I guess maybe you missed the point of including skinner. It greatly decreases the cost of getting eichel in terms of trade assets.

In terms of cap, when all is said and done, 15 million is going out, and 17 is coming in.

Maybe, but is he ready to go junior to the nhl? Maybe next to crosby, or maybe eichel but they'll be on pitt after this.

Dude he’s president of hockey operations. What on earth do you think that means?

Yes...and then we pay x for a left winger to play a top 6 role and get 20g60pts. So its 2mil + x, if x is a ufa its probably 8mil total so...we save 1mil. Thanks

More like you keep your 9 million dollar bottom 6 forward and have to pay 8+ million for a new top 6 forward that will likely crap the bed in Buffalo to only get traded for nothing and go back to succeeding. Sounds par for the course in Buffalo

Very much not what you seem to think. PoHO is in charge of everything but the roster. That’s the GMs job. Google is at your fingertips, use it.

If you think it’s Burke’s job to build the roster simply because he’s higher in the org why aren’t you also pretending that David morehouse is the one that built the cup teams lmao
