I don't think NSH would have much interest, if any, in either of those players -- maybe a late round pick for Johansen, but that's only because we already have his brother.

i think most Hab fans have Drouin as being valuable... my ideal trade would be Kuzy for Kotkaniemi + 1st

Depends on how you value Drouin... in his best year he had 53 points.

Kuzy had COvid this year but finished the year with 16p in 20 games.... last year he had 52p in 63gp (68 p pace in 82 game year.... year before that he had 72p in 76gp.

Kuzy is a 60-70 point center. idk how much stock you have in Kotkaniemi either. guy lst 2 years hes averaging 25p....in a 82 game year hes looking like a 3c. 2nd and 3rd round picks arent anything to go crazy over

Yeah, Cousins is absolutely expendable to the Preds next season, but not for this return. A pick or forward prospect would be preferable.

I think the trade I proposed has pretty fair value. Drouin has had a rough go the past few years and in the right place he can max at out at around 60-65 points max. KK has potential to be a low end #1C/ Jordan Staal level 2C. Not saying hes gonna end up like that but he was the 3rd overall pick 3 years ago and he hasnt been developed properly, which has stunted his growth a bit but he has shown enough potential especially in the playoffs to have value. Kuznetsov has been in the doghouse this year and its clear he needs a change of scenery, but he is a #1C (middle-lower level albeit) still in his prime and is under contract for 4 more years at a pretty good number, close to 8M. Add in a 2nd and a 3rd, I think its pretty fair value.

You are trading a proven commodity in Kuznetsov for an unproven commodity in Kotkaniemi and a inconsistent commodity in Drouin.

Kuznetsov had his worst year in a long time, is starting to age, and has a big contract. That isn’t an asset in a flat cap world.

interesting take. i would take the 1c that scores 60-70 points but iguess if you think Kotkaniemi will magically turn into a 50 point center that make sense. he would need to double his current production.

if im Washington im asking for Kotkaniemi + 1st. Droiun i think hes an above average winger whos paid a lot. i think Kotkaniemi is likely goingto be a really great 3c. hes a solid defensive center that lack great to elite level offense.. i think he might be a younger Eller maybe slightly better.

Seems like you’re criticizing making assumptions about a players future performance (which i didn’t do), while pretending a player is his old self.

Kuznetsov had a bad year. He is getting to the age where a lot of NHL forwards start to severely decline. He has a big contract for four years. He’s a gamble that could pay off, or that could be an unmitigated disaster. There isn’t a horrible scenario associated with acquiring kotkaniemi. There is one with kuznetsov.

"Seems like you’re criticizing making assumptions about a players future performance" i more or less projecting/ forming an opinion on a p layer based off his first 3 years in the NHL.seems more like an educated guess than a criticisms.

imnot pretending that Kuzy is anything simply stating that he had COVID and he said" hes happy to be alive" bc of how badthe virus hit him. once he got back on track he had 16p in20 gp and was noticeably better on both sides of the puck...

to me it seem silly that you are willing to diminish a player value when hes proven hes had success in the reent past/ present while also amping up a players value based off draft position and maybe age when hes shown nothing that would lead you to beleive hes going to be a 1-2c in the NHL

Sounds like the caps would be crazy to trade him then.

I’m not amping up any player. I never said anything about what kotkaniemi will be. Literally not one word.

I think kuznetsov’s contract is scary. Contracts matter. He has negative value in my opinion. Seems like the caps agree.

well let me show you how i seeit

"Kotkaniemi has more value than kuznetsov."... i would take that as you assume that Kotkaniemi is somewhat on track to become a 1-2c at some point. normally 1-2c have fairly high value.. i would put Kuzy at the 1st + good prospect level. i wouldnt pay that atm for Kotkaniemi

Capitals never once said they are looking to getrid of Kuzy.... just the fans. Kuzy contract is >8m for a guy that can be a 1-2c on most NHL teams.i think statement like ". He has negative value in my opinion. Seems like the caps agree" is funny. ut its your opinion.most teams arent paying teams to take their 2c that scores 60-70 points but hey maybe you are right lol

Well, you made some assumptions about what i was thinking. I certainly never said those things.

    Here’s how i see it:
    Kuznetsov - no value
    Kotkaniemi - some value.

Some value is greater than no value. That’s all.

Unproven?! 4 goals in 10 playoff games last year tied for team lead. 1 goal and 1 A in his only game so far this year. The kid brings solid play ever night and steps up in the playoffs at just 20 Y.O. Give him some respect!
