Whats the deal with Samsonov and Vitacek

Description
I’ve heard rumblings of the team being unhappy with Samsonov and there is the high likelihood that one will be taken by Seattle. Is it likely one of these guys will be available pre expansion?

(I added the MIN trade since I’d like to see one of these guys end up there and to see where value lies.)

I feel like washington should keep samsonov as he only has 50 games but with Seattle I think they might expose him and then resign with Washington after the expansion draft

I've been through this a bit with Caps fans. Most seem to still be high on Samsonov but would be willing to move him for a high value. My understanding is your offer here is probably still a bit low. They want to move Vanecek for the same reason most Wild fans are willing to move Dumba.

I’m higher on Samsonov too, but I think it’s based on perception more than anything else. I would build an offer around Kaapo for Vitacek too. I don’t think the Wild will protect Talbot and their goaltending pipeline is pretty weak. Both guys here have a higher ceiling than Kaapo IMO and BG would be wise to pursue one or the other.

Maybe I’m mistaken, but both Vitacek and Samsonov are expansion eligible, yes? Ala they need to be protected.

RFAs are eligible since they are under team control…

Seattle can select his rights and gain exclusive negotiating power.

GMBM just said that they want to give Samsonov another shot next year to take the reins as the starter. Vanecek was pretty good this year, but he was also inconsistent.

There's a couple of options for the Caps:

1. Expose Vanacek and let the Kraken take him if they want
2. Sprong could definitely be selected.
3. Make a trade with the Kraken to select Dillon/Schultz for a bit of sweeteners added)

Thanks, this is the kind of insight I was looking for. I’m in total agreement that Samsonov should be the guy going forward, hence my interest.

Lol Sams have been bailing you out the whole series with Boston. You gotta do something with your lines if you don't wanna end up with a Hats as your best offensive guy. I liked the move to sign Lundkvist since he vas a mentor for both Shesterkin and Georgiev in Rags and you know how it worked. Sign a good aging goalie to mentor those guys, save Vanecek from Seattle with picks/prospects and you gonna be good.
