OTT has depth on RD , aside from Chabot not much on LD. AZ does not have a 1st rnd pick this year and want to shed salary. Chychrun has 4 years left on a very affordable deal. You have to give to get.
Lottery protected 1st this year , Ottawa has the option to defer to 2022 is they move up to 1-5 th pick

OTT has Branny, Mete, Chabot and Sanderson on LD, they have only JBD and Lassi Thompson as RD prospects, they do not need anymore LD

Brannstrom is a left shot but plays right side. I agree Sanderson is LD but they need some experienced guys on the backend. Not sure how much you have seen Chychrun play but he is a very solid top 4 . Mete is bottom pairing 6/7. JBD and Thomson need time in Bellville.

There is no way ARI trades Chychrun, unless the return is phenomenal. And this return is not that. The pick is great, but they're gonna have to add a lot more than Brannstrom.......

But Brannstrom DOESN'T play the right side though. He did like two games in 2019 with Ron Hainsey, and DJ Smith clearly has decided he doesn't like it and won't use it.

Chychrun is a great Dman, but long term Ottawa is in a GREAT position on the left side, and definitely don't need to trade the 10th overall pick to address the position, especially when they would also be pulling from that depth by trading Brannstrom.

I hear your argument , Smith likes him playing left but he prefers to play right . Chychrun is only 23 yrs old and has 4 years term left so this is not a short term solution. He would also help eat some of the minutes Chabot has been playing. Chabot was 2nd in the league in minutes played and he would benefit from less ice time. Actually if I had to propose what the Senators need most it would be a stay at home RD to play with Chabot.

But chychrun is chychrun, and this package isn’t even in the right stratosphere. It would take stuff that I’m sure you consider untouchable

Chychrun would be the senators best player, signed with term on an awesome deal. You’re out of your mind if you think they don’t take this.

You can rattle off all the mediocre d men you want. Chychrun would be the teams best player.

1. Chabot > Chych

2. In 4 years Chych is going to want a big payday, conflicting with contracts for Norris/Batherson/Sanderson/Stutzle/Tkachuk

OTT declines. Not a bad offer, but not what is right for the team. We'll stick with Branny and the top 10 pick

Chychrun is so, so, so much better than chabot. They aren’t in the same tier. One is a guy with some Norris talk and the other has a lot of holes in his game. This would probably the best trade ottawa has made in the cap era.

Ottawa would accept this deal in a heartbeat. There's no way Arizona does this.
