I also think Mac will buy in. That team has something and they already are setting a precedent for a killer team. If they go to the WCF or SCF it'll only help those chances.

I'd say what, 2 years Mac will be 27... 7-9 mil x 8 years you'll get him. We gotta remember Mac learned directly from/ with Crosby and still trains with him. 8.5m x 8 years actually seems conceivable (76.5 mil contract). He already said in 2019 he would be willing to take less again on his next contract to help the Avs win, that is all he cares about.

I think this is exactly what the Canes need, their weak defense could really benefit from adding an elite defenseman that they are currently lacking.

Hardly a steal giving up 4 first rounders. Plus without a taxi squad next season, you're not cap compliant. Teams will going with 22 man rosters.

To fix the cap I would just change Svech's contract to a bridge deal instead of a contract that takes him to UFA.

I have a feeling the Avs will be another Chicago/Pittsburgh type dynasty team. There's an incredible amount of talent within that organization.

I think their situation is manageable. The only "bad" contract they have is EJ, and it expires the same year MacK is due for a new deal.

They do, but I still think they have a window of about 4-5 years where they can get away with bridge deals/convincing guys to take team-friendly deals to win.

They also have JOE SAKIC as GM. Not only is he a good GM with relationships internally with the players. But he can go in their tell them winning a cup is better than haggling over 1-2 mil. Hes a HOF and hes won a cup, and isn't just "some guy". Can't remember the podcast on spittin chiclets but they had a HOF on and he said the same thing: IF he could tell a team one thing, its if you buy in, its better than being a few million dollars richer. Keeping the "boys" together and keeping the winning going, and winning the ultimate prize.

I believe COL can do it, I hope they stick together. Theyre so fun to watch. They are good for the sport of hockey.
