Description
i'm still numb after last night, so let's goooooooo

- Marner gone, obviously - still an elite player *production-wise* and there's gotta be a team that thinks they can 'fix' him (see: Laine, Dubois). Missed a chance to get Weegar while the price was low, but he's worth it. Levi is a quality prospect stuck behind like four goalies, and address an organizational weakness. 1st is a part of the "young roster player + prospect + first" package that seems to be the baseline for every top player trade, I'll take either '22 or '23 because both are decent draft years and Florida will finish high anyways. Stralman is to balance cap out mostly, only one year left.

- we proceed to dump Stralman and pay a 2nd to do so (same price/precedent as Marc Staal)

- Crouse for Holl, because god knows we should've taken him in 2015 instead /s

- Rielly also goes, which is a shame because he's been a good Leaf, but strike while the league's perception of him is high. Address the LHD issue in NY - Lundkvist is stuck behind Trouba and Fox on the right side long-term, and Buch is one of seemingly dozens of wingers in NY, seemed the most likely to move - Hallander is a quality middle-six C prospect too, so Rangers fans don't have to suffer Brett Howden much longer

- sign Dougie for a little more than Piet got (again, precedent), add Leivo and Reimer for insulation (and the memes), and re-sign Hyman to a 5x5, which feels more than fair

- still some room to add some depth here or there if need be

- if this team still doesn't get past round one, fold the franchise and end my misery, please and thank you

Not gonna trade one of our only good defensive defensemen for a playoff disappointment, and add to that further

Rangers are set on LHD. Don't need Reilly on an Expiring Contract.

Buchnevich could end up being moved in a different deal, due to possible Cap issues later on.

Yea why would Rangers pick up a rental D who they arent going to sign long term for his decline, for that package.

See, my thinking was this - Shesty and Buch are both RFAs this year, and with only really Smith coming off, there's not a lot of wiggle room. But next year, Shattenkrik and Lundqvist's buyouts drop by 10M, which gives you Rielly and Fox extension money. I get that how the value might be off, but with Panarin/Kreider/Laf/Kakko/Krav already on the wings, I figured one of them would have to go, and LHD seemed like the weakest position (no disrespect to Miller). It's a gamble on a guy with one year left, but the Rangers should be transitioning to a competitive approach and take advantage of Fox/Miller/Kakko/Laf/Krav all on ELCs. Just my two cents.

Weeger isn't available, And why would Hamilton sign with a team that can't even get out of the first round?

money talks, he's a local guy, and the Leafs, despite their wofeul inability to succeed in the playoffs, are still an excellent organization in almost every other aspect a player would care about, top to bottom.

plus, a red wings fan shouldn't be throwing stones regrading recent playoff successes, if we're going there. Sticking Out Tongue

You forgot about the 10M in buyout cap that we get back? Also they will liquidate ADA I’m sure. Tons of space to sign 2 guys that will be paid no more than 5M each

generally speaking, I consider recent 5-10 years - during which they've missed the playoffs five times, and were knocked out in round one four times. i'm not dipsuting anything before that though, they were dominant for a quarter century before that, and i certainly can't defend much from a Leafs perspective haha.
