Description

May not be the big upgrade trades Flames fans would be looking for from moving Monahan and Gaudreau, but think both are at least somewhat realistic and open up room to sign Hall. Personally wouldn't pay Hall that much but it's what he very likely gets on the open market/to sign in Calgary. Adding a Hall, plus the trio of Konecny, Haula and Brown, as well as a very capable backup in Brossoit (originally a Flames pick) would create a deeper lineup. If Dube and Mangiapane can continue to develop and grow, could work well.

Lucic taken by Seattle in expansion. Some may say no chance, but they will have plenty of cap room, and he already waived because of his willingness to go there. Could be a great veteran for that team for his last few seasons and a West Coast guy to boot

Additional Details:

Could play around with picks, an additional prospect or something but these 2 as the base of the trade. Truly think this is gonna happen. Gaudreau will sign in Philly as a UFA, Konecny lower ceiling but good cost control and term and still a very solid Top 6 F. Has fallen out of favour in Philly a bit so this makes a ton of sense imo

Additional Details:

Much like Gaudrea trade, could play around with picks, prospects but again makes sense. Monahan had a great junior career in Ottawa. Brown coming off a career year has lots of upside, costs less, etc. Not as good of a player at their peaks as Monahan, but very serviceable

Kraken aren't taking a contract like Lucic for "character". In the current flat cap system, cap space has considerable market value. They're more likely to take someone cheap if someone good isn't available and use the space to outbid for UFAs or poach good highly paid players from capped out teams.

seattle has a good pulse on every single team in the NHL, they know who is hated and who the fans want out, who is causing cap problems and who teams are trying to hide from them. They know that Lucic is not loved and will offer to make the flames organization look good for getting rid of him, in addition to draft picks

I wouldn't say that Konecny has fallen out of favor in philly some fans are annoyed with him cause of a poor showing in the playoffs last year and taking a step back this year but I don't think the organization feels that way they want him to be better but not ready to ship him out

Could definitely see the Flames adding draft compensation for Seattle to take Lucic. If not, who do you guys think they take instead?

And on Konecny, gotcha, I just know that Vingeault scratched him a few times this season no? (That guy needs to go btw, holding the Flyers back). Would you make the Konecny for Gaudreau trade?

Correct, and with a very manageable cap hit he is still an asset for us. I believe he was a point per game player as well over the last two months of the season and Gaudreau's value has definitely taken a hit the last few years.

I would love to be able to try and get Gaudreau and Hanifin/Monahan out of Calgary though. That would be dope.

The value that youre proposing isnt crazy or anything, but I dont think OTT is the right fit for Monahan at all.

Too much Center depth, not enough wingers.

Monahan doesnt appear to be a culture fit or playstyle fit either... not a grindy heart filled game.

But with very likely Kylington & Gio available for Seattle the Flames would need to add significantly to Lucic to get them to ultimately select him
