You're not getting a first back to dump Eriksson. The cost to take him is a high pick. You'd get a 7th and a B prospect back.

Red Wings are taking on a year of Eriksson to move up from 23 to 9. Seems like a win-win, although I don't know if Vancouver does it. Staal was basically the some contract and got a 2nd. Is the difference in value between 9 and 23 equal to a 2nd rounder?

I really like this trade man, even if it’s not with Vancouver but to flip the 24th overall pick in Detroit for a higher pick and a cap dump seems like an Yzerman type of move
