Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2021
Published: Jun. 7, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Team in shambles? Here's what I do. Trade is explained, but as far as free agents..

The JT trade frees room for Hyman, who I assume would take a home town discount.

Bozak and Glendening CAN be helpful depth pieces, and I think the latter really fits what Toronto could use. A reunion may be wishful thinking, but that hasn't stopped me before.

Ian Cole is a great defensive defenseman with great pedigree, and can help a bottom pair, and cover for the kids while they develop, and Halak is a stop gap while you test how good Campbell really is, and I signed a decent third goalie while I was at it.

Honestly, can't tell how good or realiastic this is, but I'm lost how to handle this team.

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Mangiapane, Andrew
  2. Monahan, Sean
Additional Details:
Bit of a wonky move, I know, BUT, Calgary gets a 1C to take a run, and Monahan, who is cheaper, slots in nicely with the Leafs.
2.
TOR
SEA
  1. Holl, Justin
Additional Details:
Being bold, I say Kerfoot stays on the team, and Holl ends up claimed be SEA. With Brodie, Muzzin, and Reilly, he becomes the odd man out in the 7-3-1.

Luke Glendening fits the needs of teams that are tabkifoe shane wright andd thats about it. He is very bad.
It's also incredible that you managed to fix zero problems the team has.
Their one issue in the playoffs was scoring. This team not only scores less, it's worse defensively

JT will retire a Leaf. As soon as Dubas gave him that contract that was official

He is not very bad. That’s an absurd thing to say. He’s a well established 4line centre who’s very good in the face off circle

No, he's a below replacement level 4th line c who can take faceoffs. That's literally all he can do above an ahl level. He cant put up offence and he gets caved in defensively.
He is a horrifically bad hockey player who happens to be able to win like 2 to 4 faceoffs per game more than average.

Taking away the fact that it would never happen because JT would never agree, it is interesting if CGY did that trade 1for1. SM is to offset salary, but maybe CGY thinks they could get enough back in another deal for him. Which they might be able to do- GMs are kind of dumb. I don't know how you could watch the player the last 2 years and see how at this rate with that salary it's a cap dump.

Tavares isn’t leaving Toronto and that team is still painfully average
