Created by: Rliebrecht
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2021
Published: Jun. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- Traded two picks to Seattle so they take Stanley over Appleton
- Stastny can be slotted in at 2C if Dubois flames out again this season
- Assuming a different coach plays a stronger 3-line approach with the veteran 3rd line getting meaningful all-situations ice time.
- Vesalainen gets a real shot at a skill game in the top six. Perfetti gets a cup of coffee and slots in here if he sticks. Admittedly weak at RW.
- Copp sticks on second line to boost possession #s.
- Heinola is in the NHL full-time, with DeMelo teaching the ropes. Ideally Heinola ends the season on second pairing, with a strong Reilly/Demelo shutdown pair
- Fourth line relied on for shutdown role
- Samberg gets some games

I think you're about 2mil and 2 years short on that Coleman deal. If that's all he's asking for Tampa can afford him

Might wanna give Hellebuyck some more support than just Wedgewood. I get that he has been the best goalie in the world over the past 2 years, but he is bound to falter, you need a backup who you can trust game in and game out to play. Brossoit is probably the perfect guy, just play him more

I don't think we should give Seattle 2nd and 3rd Rounder to protect anyone. Offer them Niku and a later pick, maybe--but that's it; if Seattle passes, we lose who we lose. Better one asset than 3.

Agree with Rangsey and denys about Coleman and Helle.

I think we should only retain one of either Copp OR Stastny, not both. If Winnipeg is going to conduct business on the worry that Dubois remains a dud going forward, then just ship his ass out now while he still holds SOME value to other teams.

Not confident we can ever sign a big UFA like Hamilton. I think a winger needs to go if it gets us a solid d-man in return. I like Weegar in Florida, but apparently he's untouchable any time I suggest a trade on here

Well, I guess with the injury to AE, Weegar is probably untouchable. I probably don't trade him myself, and most likely not for a winger. But were I to, there's only one player that gets it done, and you are probably not going to like it.

So your team is dreadful on the back end and you pay two picks to give a former first round defenseman that just got in the league and could become something to protect a guy you slot on your fourth line. What's wrong with you?!
Those are the kind of trades that made Vegas a contender from the get go.

Stanley is expendable.
