The only way that trade works if Jones accepts to have a long extension

For sure-- what do you think Jones would want on next deal?

I think the Jackets are better off keeping the 1st and Foudy instead of trading for Kuzy

Pretty fair value for Kuznetsov, but Kempny will have gone over a year without playing an NHL game when next season starts. I doubt he comes back as good as he was in 2017-18 and 2018-19 before he tore his hamstring. He relies on his skating a lot, and he's had a torn hamstring and a torn Achilles in the past two seasons.

I was debating, maybe reducing picks or something, but how much longer until Laine wants out? Atleast show him you are trying to get him a center. Kuz could spark and get going. He was 2C in WSH behind Backstrom, but now he'd be 1C with a younger Ovechkin in Laine

Worst case CBJ buries him in minors. Would be something if he can even get somewhat back to what he was

Philly doesn't need any retention on Jones.

As long as The Jackets believe they can seriously contend next season then I say make the trade but if not Just keep the Young C and 1st

Why would anyone complain about salary retention? PHI would get an extra $2.7M the can spend in free agency to sign a C, RHD, or back up G

Because it raises the price of acquisition and as is I'd say that's a little too much to give up for Jones. For instance, I'd rather CLB not retain and keep Lindblom

Jones's contract is already quite cheap and retaining on him would raise the price.

I mean this is just me personally but I rather have Sanheim than Jones.

Jones is probably going to ask for a little less than double of what Sanheim is going to get this offseason. I don't think Jones is twice as good as Sanheim, even with the somewhat down year Sanheim had. Of course if this is 2017-18 Jones we're getting then sure.
